Amen to almost all of the last post. Unless the Motion Plus add-on is the central feature of some new Nintendo IP that really brings it back to the gamers. Not gonna happen but there is hope. I like the idea of motion controls and a pointer on the controller, just make it cool already!

Wait, someone who actually wants Nintendo to stay on top? Have the soccer moms discovered this forum?

If it makes any difference, I just bought my Wii this last week. I bought it used (but complete boxed and all that) with some other extras on Craigslist, so I guess I wouldn't be helping Nintendo sales data, but I had been thinking about it for awhile and went out and did it. It came with Brawl and HotD 2&3 and I'll be picking up Mario Galaxy then Klonoa when it comes out. Probably Mario Kart and Mario Party will follow.

I bought my Wii last weekend and am now giving it away as a gift this weekend. All that time thinking about buying it, finally doing so only to get rid of it a week later.God I'm a tool.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Just wondering, how much did you buy that Wii for, and what all did it come with?

I'm selling my Wii to a friend of mine for $225, complete with a bunch of VC games. I just want to know if I screwed myself. =P

I paid $320 and got the Wii perfectly in the box as if it were new, 3 Wiimotes with condoms, 2 nunchucks, 2 nyko perfect shots, 2 gamecube controllers, a gamecube memory card, super smash bros. brawl, house of the dead 2 &3, and mario kart double dash (for gamecube).

I felt like it was a good deal since Wiimotes are $40 each to begin with and nunchucks are $20, so thats an extra $100 in controllers, plus the two good Wii games and the 2 nyko perfect shots, then since I've got 4 gamecube controllers and mario kart double dash, I'm just selling those to pad my purchase a little.

IMO the Wii is just a fad and down grades the whole game industry. The cost of one of those games you can get a PS2 that plays better,as far as I'm concerned the Wii controller is one of the worst ideas ever made.My brother just bought "Army of Two" on Xbox 360 for $20-new!,its an older game but its cheaper and imo its more fun than the Wii games.
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

This may sound dumb to some of you, but purchasing a PS3 and an Xbox 360 seem more "complicated."

I think the Xbox 360 is an excellent system with a fantasic online setup up in addition to having tons of great games, but with so many different versions out, with the variations between arcade, pro, elite and whatever else I don't know which I would get or want to pay for. Because of all the red-ring stuff I would want to get a Jasper model, but I thought I had read additional hardware differences like with usb ports or something that wasn't in the $200 model. With the PS3 there is backwards compatibility kind-of in one of the models, others don't have it or are software emulation. I also have to consider different hard drive sizes, which aren't cheap in the case of the Xbox 360.

When I buy an Xbox 360, I want to make sure I am getting the best I can, but at a decent price. I would want my PS3 to have full backwards compatibility but not if it is going to mean a buggy system or a difference in price that is greater than my already modded PS2.

With the Wii, I guess its just a matter of getting a system that doesn't have the newest update so you can do the Twilight Princess hack. These aren't meant to be reasons in defense of the Wii or anything, but as the first system I got in the new generation of systems, it was an easy purchase and there are some games I'll play on it. When it comes time I'll get a 360 so I can play Soul Calibur 4, RE5, Devil May Cry 4, Halo 3 and many more, probably the Banjo Kazooie title even though its not a platformer, and I am sure there are plenty more exclusives with lots of great Xbox Live offerings.

Lemme uncomplicated it for you. 60 Gigabyte model is the one with 'full' BC, and hard drives are much cheaper for the PS3 than the 360 because you can use any lap top Hard Drive. Xbox 360 hard drives can only be Xbox 360 hard drives.
Here is a 360 hard drive:
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-120GB-Ha ... 800&sr=8-1
Here is the hard drive I got for my PS3:
http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-S ... 877&sr=8-2

Notice how the PS3 hard drive was much cheaper than the 360 hard drive, despite having twice the space.

As for the Wii, it ain't my bag. There are only, at most, ten games that even slightly interest me, and that's probably being pretty generous. But, I'm not going to knock anyone for buying into it anymore. Different strokes, I guess. Obviously, different strokes: If you are thinking of buying a next gen system for Soul Calibur 4, RE5, Devil May Cry 4 and Halo 3, all I can say is "Play before you buy", because every single one of those games was at least a minor disappointment to me.

The reason I held back so long on buying any of the consoles is that there wasn't a system seller for me. I bought my Nintendo DS so I could play Pokemon Diamond and then Zelda Phantom Hourglass. I bought my PSP so I could play Lumines and Lumines II, emulation was nice as well, though I don't really use it anymore.

If I had a game to buy a 360 or a PS3 for I would surely buy others, but part of the problem and this is true for the Wii, is that I've still got better games for systems I already own.

The only Resident Evil game I have played is Code Veronica for the Dreamcast. I own REmake for the Gamecube, RE2 for the Dreamcast, RE3 for the Playstation, and I downloaded RE4 for my modded PS2. I only played the first Devil May Cry and don't own the others. I played the shit out of Soul Calibur 1 & 2, but was disappointed by 3. 4 was good, but not as good as 2. I like Halo because I don't think FPS's need to be too serious (like realistic military combat and all that), which is why I love Time Splitters, but even so I wouldn't buy a 360 to play Halo. I still need to play Twilight Princess on my Gamecube and I've got an unfinished file in Shining Force II for the Genesis. I would like to play Ratchet and Clank on the PS3, but I can't justify the purchase of a PS3 for that or even for MGS4 when I haven't played any of the ratchet and clank games and I've only played MGS2 (which i loved) even though I also own 1 and 3.

I've got a lot of games left to play. There still wasn't a system seller for me when I bought the Wii (haven't played Mario Sunshine either even though I own it). As for the Wii purchase, seemed like a good deal when I saw it on Craigslist, but I haven't even hooked it up yet because of my busy school schedule. I'm sure I'll enjoy Galaxy and now that I have it I'll check out the praise for Zack & Wiki. Maybe Madworld when its cheaper, but No More Heroes looks mediocre at best. Zelda will come out eventually.
