What era of gaming did you grow up in?

NES - RC Proam, Kid Icarus, Maniac Mansion, Spy Hunter, Mikey Mousecapades, not to mention the obvious ones. So many great titles that drew me in and spun my imagination and still have the magic to captivate me now.

I find it sad that I can go to a lanparty and pull out my toploader NES and only a few guys know what it is or care. Most think it is like a yobo or fctwin, some Hong Kong knock off. But those few who stick around and plug away at Silkworm or Jackal with me always have a good time. Ironically I have gone to a sports bar with friends and while hooking up an NES I instantly had three guys I never seen before asking if I had Tecmobowl...

Late Genesis years into the Gameboy Color. The GBC was really what did it, but the Genesis is what introduced me to video games.

I started off with a Colecovision.

I saved up all my lawn mowing and snow shoveling money for a full year to buy the NES. I was obsessed with NES and played non-stop. I competed in the 1990 Nintendo World Championships. I made it to state semifinals in Utah and was one of three kids with the giant jumbotron style TVs behind him playing a mix of Super Mario Bros, Rad Racer, and Tetris.

I stayed strong throughout the Super NES years. I stayed loyal to Nintendo and bought the Nintendo 64. My amount of playing died down a little bit. I got more into music.

My little brother had a Playstation, which I played a little, but not much.

I bought a Playstation 2 when they came out and played for awhile, but my gaming really died down as I devoted more time to my studies throughout college and grad school. I'm still in grad school, but I've had a bit of a resurgence with gaming as the price has dropped on PS2 games and I have been getting in late to the party on a lot of great games.

I still haven't bought a next gen system, though I think they look really cool.
