Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It's like she's morphed into the moral guardians of the late '90s/early '00s that freaked out after Columbine.

Violence isn't okay, and that the game is Doom isn't an excuse?

But hey, some good stuff coming out of E3 this year.

Nah. She has an opinion on it, and is sharing it. She's not petitioning for bans on content or anything.

Like Doomguy is supposed to sit and have a dialogue with hellspawn about the societal impact of their discrimination against humans.

I think her point is that the game shouldn't be made, period.

Here's a guy who understands what Doom is supposed to be like

And here's another one who doesn't.

Luckily for Sarkeesian and McIntosh, they don't have professional licenses like Thompson did, so they can't have them revoked. I feel like the Joker here. "We deserve a better class of criminal." It used to be lawyers and politicians in these people's shoes, now it's hipsters with social media campaigns.

Pretty much this. The "Anita wants ________ banned" is a tired strawman.

I think I'm gonna become a strawmen's rights activist. They're always being set up.

I know. You can't express disapproval of something - especially in the context of video games - without people thinking you are some sort of crusade to get it "banned".

Also, this. Strawmen have never been anything but nice to me. I don't understand why we talk about them so negatively.

EDIT: I hate those log men that ninjas leave behind when they disappear, however, those things are the worst.

If you don't want to play a game that isn't about killing people, you don't have to.

Hell, I just spent about two hours playing "Cook, Serve, Delicious" (which so far has been pretty fun) and the day before that spent five hours playing "Arcadecraft" (which was fun for a couple of hours, then quickly became extremely boring but had to finish the game just in case it suddenly became fun again - spoiler, it didn't). I've also been playing the absolute hell out of Audiosurf 2 since it got out of Early Access (fuckin' amazing game) and have been practicing Shatter to eventually try my hand at a 100% non-stop run. Oh, and I just got Cities: Skylines as well, hopefully I can squeeze that in on my hard-drive.

None of these games have any sort of violence in them. There's tons of options for non-violent games out there. For the love of God, stop whining about the latest spit-shined Triple-A shooter and just enjoy the options that are available to you.

People have a right to critique products like Fallout and Doom for being violent, but I've never once understood even a little bit how people can demand that something supplant its entire identity - again, and again, and again, and again - without understanding how market forces work. No one is going to show up to watch the Itchy and Scratchy Show if they spend the entire show drinking lemonade in a rocking chair.

Games historically with violence in them are expected to have violence in them. "That's the Problem." Well if there is a problem, then that implies there's a solution. What's the solution? What else could it possibly be?

Why? Why is it a problem that games - CERTAIN GAMES - have violence in them? They are games made by adults, for adults. They have ratings. No one is being forced to play them, and no one is buying them without knowing their contents beforehand. So what's the problem? Seriously, why is this a problem?
