I think 2001 is good. But you know the same guy made The Chronic right? Even my favorite songs on 2001 I don't think are in the same league as much of the material on The Chronic.

Also I think "Xxplosive" is xxcruciatingly bad.

It may have actually been 2000.

Haha. You know that is the song Kanye cites for informing his own style, right?

I think 2001 is a 9/10, original Chronic is a 10/10. Both great.

maybe early Kanye sure. But he's obviously grown a lot as a producer over the years. "Xxplosive" makes me cringe. One boring guitar riff for like five minutes. Ugh.

I don't do the 1-10 thing, but Chronic would be a 5/5 (I love it) and 2001 would be a 3 or 4/5 (like it or like it a lot). I'll give it a listen today or tomorrow, it's been years since I've felt the need to hear it in one sitting.

he's talking about hair bands sure, but the truth is that *all* metal is a dork-tastic cheese fest

ALL OF IT

Totes.

Listened to Metallica's Enter Sandman recently and realized how silly it actually is. I couldn't help but laugh every time the lead sings "Gaw-rippin' your pillow tie-eee-ight!".

(Listening to Beethoven while typing this)

Not that some metal bands do not have some serious musical merit (Black Sabbath was boss) but the genre is a bit weird to me. Now I can rock out to some angst, but music with lyrics that focus on death and being angry isn't my kettle of tea.

Now if I'm super pissed, Bach's organ music is therapeutic.

I don't think 'being dorky' and 'having merit' are necessarily antonyms (and make no mistake, Black Sabbath was hella dorky too), but... yeah.

lol. Metallica.

seriously though the only thing dorkier than metal is prog rock.
