I have a quick question.
If i used one of th VGA boxes sold here on racketboy, cold I then use one of these VGA to HDMI converters (Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-GOLD-MALE- ... 5649dacd95)?
My tv does not have VGA, so this seems like the obvious solution, but I know stuff like this can be strange sometimes, with sync issues and such, so I wanted to make sure.
Thanks!

No, this will not work. This cable just transfers a signal. It does not convert it...dunpeal2064 wrote:I have a quick question.

Please note: Cable might not work by just connecting PC with TV. Your video output device must support both analog and digital signal conversion and output function. Please consult your video output device's user manual for more information.
NOTE: Your Video card must support digital signal output through VGA port function. Please consult with your VGA card's user manual for more information.

Yikes, good catch. Thanks.
So, something like this would do it then? http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5mm-Laptop-PC ... 3a7bc1282d

That's really cheap though. I hope it does a good job at converting the signal. AFAIK conversion is hit and miss with these things...

I believe you would still need a DC VGA Box and a VGA to HDMI Scaler like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Atlona-AT-HDVIEW- ... 996&sr=8-2dunpeal2064 wrote:I have a quick question.

I know the above method works, although I'm not sure if there's new a method on circumventing the DC VGA Box. I still use my DC VGA Box and 480p is fine with me.

Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/
Okay, so I need to know if my VGA box is busted or if I'm just missing something:
Got my VGA box in January 2012 (Retro Bit brand) and the last time I used my Dreamcast it worked great, this was September 2012 (comparing Sonic Adventure 2 VGA to the HD version that was on the PSN).
I just booted up the system yesterday and black screen until my TV gave me a "No Signal" message. Please note that I have not messed with any of the connections since it worked last.
The red light in the VGA box turns on and everything looks okay; I know the TV registers that it's plugged in because if I change the "TV or PC" switch to "PC" it says "Not Supported." I unplugged everything and checked the connections, everything looks okay and I plugged everything back in correctly and it still doesn't work.
Confirmed it is not my system as I tried it with my other Dreamcast and got the same black screen and "No Signal" message. I also plugged the system in with the normal composite cables and that works so it shouldn't be a system issue.
Any tips or solutions would be great, thanks in advance.

what game are you trying to play this time? Is it definitely one that supports VGA?VincentX wrote:Okay, so I need to know if my VGA box is busted or if I'm just missing something:

Sorry should've mentioned that, I used Sonic Adventure 2; I even tried just booting either system with no game in them and still got nothing.
Re: DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/
If u r getting a not supported message, the issue has to be coming from your TV. You an remove all doubt by simply using your VGA box on another set that supports the connection (another HDTV, PC monitor etc.), of course that is you have an alternative set. Even if you don't, take it to a friends house or family member who a monitor.

Is there a place to find affordable VGA boxes these days? The ones I've seen are at least 3x what I paid a few years ago.
