well yeah, if I were to get into NG - again, in the future after I've put the $ into getting my basement prettier - then I'd be aiming for arcade setup and a multicart would make a lot of sense.

But yeah, just not in any rush w/ that. The bug has not bitten me, and I'm more than content w/ my gaming & collecting habits as they are right now.

Wow, that's an interesting feature. So it uses the date on the NGPC's internal memory to unlock new tournaments?

Pocket Tennis Colour is on my collection list. It seems to be nicely obtainable for a cheapish price, boxed and complete. It's good to read that like most NGPC trophies it seems to have some substance to it beyond the core game.

Did you get an instruction manual? They are phenomenally detailed for NGPC games and worth getting hold of.

Noise, how are you getting on with CFC? I'm also finding Neo Geo World tough going, they're decks are really stacked and it seems laborious to keep grinding for new cards. I'm guessing this final tournament was meant to be played after a lot of multiplayer battles and trading and might be difficult for a single player run.

I've been playing MoTM instead and trying to figure out the fastest way to unlock new characters. I've seen the criticism that beating the game only unlocks a single random square but I don't think that this is true as their are some variables that affect it. For example, beating the game with the same character seems to unlock the same squares, also beating the game in tag or team battle mode unlocks three squares at a time instead of one. I'm currently trying to unlock BB Hood after getting more of a hang of the SNK roster.

Sadly no, to save space I have collected only carts only for NGPC, so I do not have the manual. But Pocket Tennis Color has been surprisingly enjoyable, almost as much fun as Mario Tennis was on the N64. I would recommend going for it.

And the trophy dates vary, depending on the type. From what I can tell, there are 19 trophies: 3 which appear randomly at any time, 12 Zodiac trophies that appear during their particular time slots, and 4 seasonal trophies only available on very specific dates during their corresponding seasons. But I may very well be wrong, as I can't find a complete trophy list anywhere, nor can I find any particular dates beyond the Summer and Winter trophies.

So far I have unlocked all 3 of the random trophies(Oriental, Delta, and Ordovinchian), 3 of the Zodiac trophies(Taurus, Capricorn, and Pisces), and 2 of the seasonal trophies(Summer[July 15] and Winter[Dec. 25]).

I'm still stuck in the first round of the last tournament. Basically I'll try two or three turns, lose and then go off to "grind" for more cards elsewhere. I kind of hate that I hit a wall as far as actual progression goes, but the game is still fun to just play random matches to try to improve my deck. I've had no luck as far as getting good cards out of machines though. So not sure if there's any other way to get some good cards other than just grinding matches? I'm determined to beat this thing eventually.

Yeah, the machines are a total blowout. All I end up doing is trading a bunch of crappy D cards for...another crappy D card. If there's some trick there then I'm not getting it.

I can't get past the first round either. She has some kind of insanely good Art of Fighting based hand where no card is less than 700 and her AC cards are also frustratingly good. Hopefully if you beat the first round you don't have to beat it again.

haha, I've thought the same thing myself multiple times - "you better be able to save between tourney matches!"

I've been sitting here watching you guys discuss these games for a while. I own both the SNK and Capcom versions of the card battler games, and while someday I want to play through them, they're definitely moving down the list. I've got a Dive Alert I also have to get through...

The card battle games seem daunting at first. Especially without the benefit of an instruction manual. However they are superbly intuitive to just pick up and play, so much so that you can pretty much skip the tutorial and dive straight into the game itself.

Those Dive Alert games....I'm not sure where they come on my radar ( ). I can't figure out from watching the videos what they are supposed to be or what genre they fall under.

I'll get them eventually though...I expect I'm going to end up collecting all the NGPC games eventually.

It's funny because I once was a big DC collector and the NGPC was only really picked up as part of that collection...for a long time my stuff was in storage as I moved countries and only now in the last six months did I get the bulk of it back. I really regret not getting more NGPC games when they were cheaper as it's now pretty much my system of choice as I've willfully opted to scale back my gaming. It's perfect for my lifestyle right now and the games are all such fun. I do kind of regret not pulling the trigger on a backlit console I saw a while back though. The light isn't always the best in my new place but the screen is centainly better than most equivalent handhelds.
