I'd be exponentially more jazzed (and frankly kind of expected) a new Paper Mario for Wii U. We haven't got a console Paper Mario yet this gen, seemed like a golden opportunity.

What I HATE myself for doing is thinking that the release of EarthBound Beginnings (+ adding Lucas back into Smash) might signal a new Mother/EarthBound game. I know Itoi has said he doesn't have any desire/plans for a new story, but that could always change, or I thought they may have decided to continue the series without him (though it would probably lose a significant amount of charm). Hell, I thought at the very least they'd announce they were in the process of officially localizing Mother 3 for North America.

I know. Ignorant, stupid, and foolish to start thinking that way, but I freak out anytime Nintendo acknowledges the fact that the Mother series even exists.

The presentation was fine. They should have done a sound check, but hey.. I was more ashamed of the numerous comments regarding Star Fox graphics. The game looked fine, true to its style, but quite a lot of viewers apparently want realism standards everywhere.

The only thing I was bummed out about was the Zelda reveal. The game looks alright, but dressing Link up as Zelda is only gonna confuse the lot who's already having trouble telling them apart ;)

I am not being an apologist for saying I enjoyed their presentation

I figured the quote marks would've sufficed but I guess I should have added blue text. I was just poking a little fun at the thread's longstanding history of dsh making a "well, [X] sucks about Wii U" remark and a flood of people posting to counter his thoughts.

The only thing anybody should be getting riled up over is that stupid Animal Crossing party thing they built to milk the Amiibo tree some more.

That said, I wasn't super impressed by their event but it's not like the bars were set super high by the other two anyways. There is some cool stuff coming this year but most of the good stuff seems like its coming 2016.

The Treehouse ended up being the highlight once again. I absolutely love the extended game demos. That alone was enough to sell me on things that I wouldn't otherwise consider. Fast Racing Neo looks beautiful and WipEout-fast so I'm looking forward to that.

I really wish we could have saw more of that FExSMT crossover. The trailer told me nothing. NOTHING. But at least that GBA Fire Emblem is coming to the virtual console. I wish they'd just throw Awakening and the new Fate games on the home platform too.

In any case I feel like it's pretty obvious that this is the Wii U's last full year. If they stretch it until 2017 I will be very surprised. Regardless of their lackluster E3 showing, it just feels like they're wrapping it up.

Who knows though, they tend to rely on Direct for their game announcements when they're actually ready to show things so perhaps in 6 months they'll have a large pile of games.

I was disappointed to not see the Wii U version of Project Cars and apparently that might be canned. So that's lame.

If I was Nintendo I would never do that, I will not give less reasons for my potential customers to buy my new console.

Any way, if they do release NX late 2016 it will be very interesting to see a new console launch vs the 2 others which are still building up towards their pinnacle.

I was thinking of Hyrule Warriors Legends when I wrote that.

I know vgchartz isn't entirely reliable, but that said. Hyrule Warriors came out Aug(JP)/Sept(ALL other) just last year. They show this:
Total Units
North America: 0.45m 48.3%
+ Europe: 0.28m 30.8%
+ Japan: 0.12m 13.5%
+ Rest of the World: 0.07m 7.4%
= Global 0.92m

It still hasn't (or maybe it just barely has) cleared a million. For a Zelda game, even a spinoff, that's below expectation. If not delayed the 3DS game is 1Q of next year. They gave it about a year and a half. My thinking was if Starfox does badly, maybe in around the same gap of time they'd convert it. Starfox is great, but it doesn't pull the figures Zelda has or near that.

I still think we're looking at 2017 for new hardware unless they feel the need to rush something out to stop the bleed.

It's probably not going to be too long before they roll out whatever mobile stuff they're cooking up, which may also be what their internal teams are focusing on (they're partnered for them, but, may be heavily supervising the initial entries).

I doubt they'd be inclined to rush out a new home console, as it's not what makes them money. Right now, that's Amiibo, and soon, it'll probably be mobile games more than anything else (if other Japanese publishers are an indication).

There is an extended Treehouse event about that game, if you haven't seen it yet. Gives a lot more context about what's happening, and is far more informative than the trailer alone.

Be prepared. This game puts the J in JRPG.

The flat color NPCs is a really clever idea. It fills the world without drawing focus.

Few opinions, guesstimations, and ideas.

1. The NX will be a handheld. You can't argue against its impossibility, because Nintendo has had a huge reputation about releasing improved portable game hardware right before a completely new hardware is released. Nintendo referred to it as a gaming platform, that doesn't mean home console. Just wait, you will see.

2. Although I was disappointed by Nintendo's E3 presentation, I didn't think it was a bad presentation. Remember, we haven't seen anything but a tech demo of Star Fox previously and the game does look awesome as a nice combination of old-school and new school. There were a lot of new game announcements, but realize that what we have seen a lot of are things we already knew, BUT those things are all coming out in the holiday season and are now almost complete. I get it, but it wasn't exciting.

3. People who complain about the new Star Fox suck as people and gamers. That's right! I said it! I'm considered a pretty upbeat and happy person, but there is one thing that pisses me off and gets me outright livid is people's hate for motion controls. Sit down and get over it! Motion controls aren't bad and aren't implemented poorly anymore and y'all just need to calm the calm down about it!

Best way to play Mario Kart. MOTION CONTROLS! Play ZombiU and see what is awesome about it? MOTION CONTROLS! I seriously use the motion controls on the pad for the sniper rifle because it is INFINITELY more accurate. People don't like having to use the screen to look down on from above in Star Fox? Guess what? GET OVER IT!

Nintendo has said, "You don't HAVE to use the motion controls," but let me tell you that it will be more difficult. There are portions of the game where it is put in a locked cinematic camera and you need to use the gamepad to target enemies. Guess what? MOTION CONTROLS! You are stuck with it and it isn't a bad thing! Just sit down and give it an honest to goodness shot, because seriously....grumble grumble grumble.

Ok....I've calmed down. I love y'all, but stop hating on motion controls, because they aren't bad and they aren't a type of control that doesn't mesh well with you. The problem is with you, not the controls! GRAH!!! Now I'm all mad again!!!!!

Maybe I should post that 3rd point all in blue? I kid somewhat, but somewhat not!
