Also, any one knows what is the final count for the Wii U library? I tried Wikipedia, it says 500+ games but many are listed as unreleased and TBAs.

My personal opinion is Nintendo is abandoning ship on the Wii U. Just an opinion obviously, but we really didn't get a single new announced title. With the amount of NX rumors floating around, it's pretty apparent Nintendo is going to cut their losses. Wouldn't surprise me to see an official localization of Mother 3 and maybe some other obscure stuff they can do on the cheap to maintain interest, but this ship is sinking.

It bums me out, but the console is just not gaining traction. The rumors of an android based console from Nintendo are intriguing, would solve a lot of their 3rd party support issues.

We got Mario Tennis and that Animal Crossing party game at E3, and we got a couple of new Wii U announcements in the previous Nintendo Direct which was only a month or so ago - those being Fatal Frame V and Project Treasure, plus they showed the first actual trailer for Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. It's not a lot sure, but I think it's a bit early to call it done yet/

Nintendo has been intentionally moving away from "announce everything at E3" for the past several years.

Indeed they have, but to not even show any new footage of Zelda seems pretty ominous. Would not shock me if they're pulling a Twilight Princess and moving it to development on NX.

Monolith developed Xenoblade, Platinum is making StarFox, Mario Maker and Yoshi Woolly World are already finished, hell even StarFox is going to be a holiday release and we got...Mario Tennis (don't get me wrong, I love me some Mario Tennis). Their other big E3 announcements were the release of a ROM that's been finished since the 90's and a "Metroid" game nobody was asking for on 3DS. What is Retro working on? What is Nintendo EAD working on? Not even a "in the coming months, we'll show you what these folks are working on" or anything to even whet the appetite.

I'm as big a Nintendo fan as anyone, and am really enjoying my Wii U, so it makes me sad, but that doesn't change the facts.

The writing is on the wall. They are abandoning ship. Insert other cliches here.

Remember when everyone was complaining that the Wii wasn't HD. Then there were rumors that Nintendo was gonna make an HD version to replace the Wii with. Then a few years passed and the Wii U came out. Isn't that the same thing that's going on right now? Only difference is the number of Wii Us sold is causing people to think that Nintendo is going to abandoned the console. They would never do that.

Unlike the Wii not being HD, there's nothing wrong with the Wii U. Sales are poor, but abandoning it and releasing a new console early is not going to magically fix console sales. Think about it... What sense does that make?

Their E3 announcing left something to be desired, but that's only because we have already known about their biggest upcoming releases for a while now (Mario Maker, Star Fox, and Yoshi's Woolly World). But, a few things. One, what Popo said. Two, everyone is complaining "The Wii U is doing bad" and up until the end of last year you couldn't stop hearing "There's no games on the console!!!!" No wonder Nintendo is giving us news about upcoming games earlier than E3.

Three, no mention of the upcoming Zelda U game. IIRC, it was said to have a 2016 release. So we know that Nintendo plans to release a game for the Wii U next year, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that they're releasing more than 1 game for their console. The Twilight Princess GCN/Wii argument makes no sense to me. There's this. Also, the game makes use of the Gamepad. Twilight Princess was able to have the motion controls "tacked on". How will Zelda U be able to work on a new console without the Gamepad? Unless the new console also has a Gamepad style controller, at which case, what would be the point of releasing such a console and abandoning the U so soon?

Even so, if they had something to show, they likely would have shown it. Most of the stuff they showed and put a date on this year was shown last year, even a rough tech demo of Starfox...that apparently wound up getting outsourced? I mean, Kojima did it with Revengeance, so I guess it was good enough for Miyamoto?

Nintendo could have announced zero games, and I am quite certain that I would have enough games in my WiiU backlog - much less my WiiU "want" list - to keep me busy until the second half of 2016.
