Well, I guess I'm dumb then...
Its not like the kid was at school, or at a lemonade stand selling his stuff to raise money. He was at a pawn shop, selling something he probably didn't buy, or took from his older brother to buy drugs or something.
I say, good find.

The kid did have a chance to set his own price. And guess what... google is available to everyone so if he was smart or even cared he could have found out what everything was worth.
I picked up Chrono Trigger for $5 yesterday from a mexican familiy at a Flea Market. Funny thing is it was the 12 year old daughter was the one who spoke english and was basically helping me the entire time. I am not going to feel bad though because I paid the asking price without trying to take advantage of them.
I think he did the same in this situation.

Where are all these $5 CT's coming from? I'd love to find one, my psx copy is skipping

Cool video man!
My best Craigslist find was a boxed atari with like 52 games (loose) for $70. I went for it, and ended up getting an atari system organizer, and a 2nd atari console (loose), which I ended up trading my friend for a CIB Dragon Warrior VII

If you do an unboxing video, unless its something super rare and interesting you dont have to open every single game box and show the cart and manual. It make's a simple video long and boring.
Just my thoughts, nice haul though.

Nice, really nice...
Yeah, poor kid, if only the pawn shop would've taken the bundle from him like he wanted in the first place, for less money...
and its true, if he is so young that getting a deal off of him is immoral, then he probably didn't buy it, his mom did. In that case, he shouldn't be out there trying to sell it in the first place. Its not our fault as random shoppers that parents are letting their kids run around selling their crap at whatever price they deam
I was a kid once, and I sold a lot of things for less than they were worth. I'd never blame it on anyone but myself.
Gonna stop going on about this now, its boring, and you are obviously set in your opinion on this.

There's not really a lot of indication that cookie monster was talking about a child anyhow.
I call a lot of people 'kids', often college age people who are actually older than me.

this is really silly, dude. pawn shops'
entire business model is built on taking advantage of people who need quick cash, underpaying them drastically for something that they can mark up 150-300% (or more). they get away with this because they know desperate people (or criminals) will bring in goods when they really need the money (or when they need to unload something they just stole). why the hell would it be any better to buy it from a pawn shop, when they ripped off the same type of kid that you're claiming was "taken advantage of" in the first place?
most pawn shops also do payday loans/predatory lending/etc. this is why i don't go to pawn shops and mainly stick to thrift stores (where items were donated) or flea markets/garage sales (where people set their own prices).
i seriously can't comprehend why you think it is "disgusting" that cookie monster (who is a girl, if i remember correctly, btw) got a good deal from someone who was about to unload it for pennies anyway. i'm sure the kid in the situation (however old) was happy with it or else they would have told her to go fuck herself and not taken the $20.
i don't know why i'm so irritated by this.
