Final Fantasy: Complete standstill against Chaos. All my characters are lvl 40. I've got the default party - so what's that? Knight, Thief, White & Black Mage? Got Excalibur and Marumasa. No matter how hard we hit him, I can't do enough damage before he fucking heals himself 9999 HP. It sucks.

I'm pretty sure it's mandatory, but just in case, your characters are promoted, right? You should have a Knight, Ninja and White & Black Wizards. Chaos is an FF boss through and through, but I can't say I had that much trouble with him. I think the only difference for me, is that I may have had a red mage instead of a black mage. That shouldn't really matter, though.

What spells do you have on you mages, by the way?

Yes promoted. Helpful spells I have are protect, healagra, life, nullfrost for white wiz. Haste for black wiz, and usually giving him maramusa. I was pretty bad at buying spells though.

Yeah, I was actually wondering what attack spells you had. I'm pretty sure you'll want Holy and Flare pretty badly. Also, you might want Saber for the Black Wizard. Are you having trouble staying alive against him at all, or is it just that you can't fight him through the 9999 heal?

It's the 9999 thing mostly, but that might not be such an issue if I was keeping everyone alive longer instead of wasting turns reviving and healing. I guess I could grind a bit more, but I cant see myself backtracking for spells and then reclimbing chaos tower.

Seriously, push it through!

(Also, Chaos heals itself? I must have bum-rushed the hell out of it the last time I went through Final Fantasy...)

EDIT: Checked GameFaqs...yep, that is definitely how I beat it.

Finished up dungeon three in Oracle of Ages. There's a bit more of an adventure game feel to this Zelda than I like (figure out what item to give to who, reclaim lost items in the proper order, that kind of thing). Some of that seems standard in any Zelda title, but it feels a bit excessive so far here. In any case, I am enjoying the game for the most part. Anything I should know/watch out for moving forward?

Yeah I was probably overleveled and simply beat Chaos down.

Ever see those YouTube videos where someone beats the game with one white mage? Mind blowing.

Not really. There's some slightly awkward puzzling when you have your second song but not the third, but it's nothing too horrible.

Do you the flute yet? There a 3 different buddies you can get. Ricky is my personal favourite. One or two areas of the world map change depending which one of the 3 you have.

Anyway, my progress:

Loco Roco: Finished world 2, 3 more to go. I want to try and finish this off by the end of the week so I can get stuck straight into FFV when the four job fiesta begins.

Metroid Prime 3: I took out the second hunter Ghor on Elysia and picked up the plasma beam. Seems like I'm about half done with this place. Might be roughly the half way point? Knowing Metroid Prime though, there'll be a fetch quest to gather X amounts of mystical macguffins hidden all around the world at some point. So maybe not quite half done :P
