What about the LeMans 24 hour race? Is that a sport? How about rally racing? What about golf? Curling?

See, sport is actually a pretty arbitrary descriptor. I think some of you are trying to assign it a more concrete meaning than it actually has.

There might be a world of underground competitive book reading!

I agree, it's a very limiting view point.

I don't care about NASCAR whatsoever, but there's a LOT more to it than driving around in ovals. It's a grueling marathon where the slightest mistake can cost you the whole race if not your life.

As far as the Olympics go, I say the more sports the better. It's not dilution, if anything it would make the Games more entertaining to watch.

I get really irked when people try to remove longstanding events from the Olympics. For instance, some want the 10,000 taken out of the track competition. That's kooky talk.

OK, so, I agree that NASCAR is dumb and boring, but it is effectively car racing. Why would one style (F1) be a sport and the other (NASCAR) not be? Stupid is, unfortunately, not a good characteristic in determining sports-ness. Were that the case, there would be a lot fewer sports.

I personally think curling is a lot dumber than NASCAR, but that's just me. ;)

I've been playing King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2 recently (and I have a cracked controller to show for it) and the English voice acting is terrible. Think of the worst dubbed anime times ten. And I love it. That's something that I miss about older games: terrible, cheesy voice acting. Nowadays voice acting in video games has developed to the point where we have incredibly talented actors bringing characters to life. But I really do miss the hilariously bad voices of the games of yesteryear.

There is a difference between entertaining bad, and bad bad, though. For example, a game like Maken X on Dreamcast or the original Resident Evil have very entertainingly hammy voice casts which add to their silly presentation (albeit probably not on purpose). Contrastingly, a game like Yakuza on PS2 also has a terrible English voice cast, but it's terrible for the reason that it's very flat and boring, not because of over acting.
