Yeah I don't get it.

Single player or gtfo.

I hate people.

I prefer single player too, but this game has been designed with the devs focusing primarily on online multiplayer. If its multi were a tacked on thing, no biggie. When it is the point of emphasis, it should facilitate the best kinds of team management and communication possible.

Now this is something you have a point with. Nintendo should honestly have a universal party chat system for friends. That is something they need to fix and add to their system.

I'm still not clear on this "friends" concept.

Nope. I really could not care less if I tried.

But you should. The game has been designed as a primarily multiplayer experience, and if you want the game and player base to grow, to see sequels, to get new maps and modes, and to generally be a successful, thriving game then you should care about whether or not Nintendo is working to enable the kinds of features that are standard in 2015 in online mutliplayer games - especially in those built around team based play.

You should also care because it is just another sign of Nintendo marching to the beat of their own drum as regards the Wii U. That would be fine if that drum was producing sustainable, successful franchises and if it was seeing a healthy growth in its player base, but it isn't. Nintendo would do well to stop reminding people of its backwardness concerning anything that involves online elements or new game play ideas, or it will continue to be the console that primarily retro gamers, Nintendophiles, and young kids love...and it will perpetuate an image of Nintendo that will hurt whatever they may want to do next. It is hard to have much faith that they will be righting ship with their next console when they keep repeating so many missteps with new games even this late in the Wii U's life.

Dave's right in that - they want third party developers and to be considered on par with other current generation consoles but seem skiddish to include a feature that could potentially be abused and potentially hurt their image "Look at this kid say @#$@#$!@# on a Nintendo!"

Any difference between NES Remix Pack (Wii U) and Ultimate NES Remix (3DS)? I picked up the 3DS game today; if they're virtually identical I'll skip the Wii U game.
