Wii-U thoughts so far
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Well since we got stiffed on points early in the year I ended up with gold, so just SMB3 as the other stuff I had or disliked. Left over coins, the few I had, got me Punchout but all that's for 3DS.

Nintendo continues to be clueless. If you are building a team-based online shooter, you really need voice chat. Any marginal interest I had in this game (mostly to play with youse guyz) is now scuttled. Not that you’ll be able to hear any cussing yourself: Splatoon has no voice chat now, and it never will. You can blame the infamous toxicity of online players for that.

Ouch. That really bumps Splatoon down quite a bit for me. So, absolutely no way to at least chat with friends? That's insane. I guess I could always get a Skype call going.

Is this game not having voice-chat an actual detriment to you guys buying this game?

Yes. If I am going to buy a game that's built around team-based multiplayer, I want to chat with my teammates.pepharytheworm wrote:Is this game not having voice-chat an actual detriment to you guys buying this game?

This. A lot of people are like, "I'M MAD THEY DON'T HAVE VOICE CHAT" and if they used it, all you will here is a 12 year old kid talking about the sexual activity you are having with your mom and yelling and screaming and you turn it off. If you are playing with your friends, then you have other ways. I know it sucks to have to do it differently, but I will take no voice chat over that junk of a voice chat.MrPopo wrote: Meanwhile, I still have fun playing TF2 without using any voice chat.
The game is also very much built around accessibility. Anyone can contribute by just covering ground.

To be specific, I'm "mad" they don't have what I consider basic functionality at this point with something like party chat is for PS/XB, not that I can't hear some a-hole on the Internet. Destiny for example would've been far worse without talking to friends and things like Mario Kart and Splatoon would only be better if I could talk to my friends instantly ... instead of texting you or posting a forum post that is trash talk/general chatter.BogusMeatFactory wrote:This. Nintendo's we don't want to copy anyone else and/or blatant ignorance about the accepted general feature set of the modern console is infuriating.
