I take one day off from reading the news, and Trump has apparently been transgender people from serving in the military via a tweet.

What is going on? Seriously, someone explain this to me.

From what I read it was due to stalled miltary spending bill with amendments pushing for and against transgender medical procedure thru costs and down time (many months) when one gets the sex change operation. Does Obama Care currently cover sex change operations? Duncan Hunter stated it best, decide what sex you want to be BEFORE joining the Military! Matis also stated days ago to review all training not related to combat readiness; a getting back to military primary mission.

Two things I noticed about this:

1. The Pentagon is referring all questions about this to the White House, as this definitely caught them flat footed and I doubt they're in favor of the announcement (sure, let's kick out a bunch of people actually willing to fight, that make sense).

2. I saw a headline that a Pentagon official was seriously worried that the tweet series would end with him declaring war on North Korea. And as horrifying as this is, the idea that it's not far fetched we'd see a declaration of armed conflict over fucking Twitter takes the wtf cake.

Yep, basically taxpayers shouldn't have to pay the bill on all that. That's a discussion I'll see my way out of lol.

Lots of transgender folks never actually transition. They have no increased medical costs. And people who have already transitioned are still considered transgendered and thus still aren't allowed to serve, so that point is at least partially moot. This is really about some kind of misplaced moral outrage and not about something that actually affects military operations.

That is the problem with health care, coverage for the sick? You can't get it up or sex confused, pay for the happy pill and plastic surgery yourself. Society should accept anyone, but should not pay for their desires.

The newest aircraft carrier (if you believe the news) is supposed to have all gender neutral bathrooms. Recent military training directs military to accept anyone who has genitals of the opposite sex in the showers. Public schools, stores and gyms even if all female now are mandated to allow the "all inclusion", ignore the genitals. Anyone speaking out the wrongs of this are accused of being racist!

Does Obama Care currently cover sex change operations?
What company will hire someone to work four years; the new hire wanting free sex change operation and paid medical recovery time leave for a year? Do hormone shots affect judgement? Should an employee be entrusted to sensitive job fields when they cannot even decide what sex they are?

It is what Duncan Hunter was alluding to, decide before signing up. Join the military to ACTIVELY serve the four years. Transgender should be allowed to serve, the issues need fixed for military readiness and moral for all the troops.
