Re: NX Predictions Thread
That's impressive thinking about it though. For that quality of game that seemed to be on the system with quite a few that I've played that's a little hard to believe. Especially considering the open nature of XCX....

That is correct, even I think the Gameboy was a power house as was the GBA when they first arrived compared to what else existed at the time. Wii was their true f it moment when they gave up.
Re: NX Predictions Thread
I don't know, the wii was a awesome system(with a crapload of shovelware to shovel through to find the gems). Though my only issue with big N right now is the fact they're playing catch up with other companies in terms of online support in many ways. I really didn't think the wii was that bad, I just wish I could've built that library up when we did get it though...especially on the ngc side just because i never realized it had that at first...

Re: NX Predictions Thread
I think the Wii was a phenomenal system. Not a powerful system, but it was truly unique for its time, and there is still a wealth of games on the system that can't be had anywhere else, even with some of the Playstation Move ports.

Am I the only one fed up with all the brainless lemmings online dogpiling on the Switch not knowing dick about it other than what the hardware is capable of doing in ones hands or on a TV screen display wise? Now theyre being attacked because Skyrim is a so called lie because Bethesda only will give out the can not confirm canned response so that immediately means Nintendo is using faked info to sell to suckers. Can not win eh?
Real mature. Skepticism is fine, my problem is people on the whole are being assholes about the entire video playing armchair experts throwing anti Nintendo shit around and it is tiresome. They said theyd reveal in January and I for one am patient enough to wait for reality to materialize instead of being another brainless lemming jumping over a cliff of pure speculatory bullshit. Feel free by all means to be a lemming, but I intend to wait a couple months before dogpiling on them for being fuck ups yet again. I cant stand Nintendo anymore from a console side but theye never let me down on the handheld end of their business model so I am willing to give a benefit of the doubt for a little while longer. Theyve set themselves up for success or ruin in January depending on the software reveal. If it is a pile of 1st and 2nd party shit and little to nothing physically being played as a finished or near finished third party project them fuck them but if not I think some apologies around the intenet may just be in order.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
See but that's typical, and even more so for nintendo and apple reviews when little information is out like it is. Heck people criticize apple just based off of rumors before they even release information. It's a little sad because it'll give switch a bad taste in peoples mouths before it comes out. Which might screw big N at this point no matter how good it is...

Re: NX Predictions Thread
By comparison, you should hear the Apple folks decrying the new Macbook Pro that was announced the other day.
What actually changed: The new Macbook Pro replaces the traditional row of function keys with a touchscreen bar of contextual soft keys. Also, there's not quite as much RAM as some folks were hoping for (but Apple always under reports the maximum potential RAM by half - sometimes more). And naturally this Macbook Pro is a tiny bit thinner and lighter than the last model.
Apple fans reaction: "It's Armageddon! We have been betrayed by Apple! The ghost of Steve Jobs would never approve of this! We need more RAM! The end is nigh! Who needs a row of contextual soft keys anyway? We wanted an incremental upgrade of the product we already liked rather than actual innovation. Change is scary! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
Hyperbole is through the roof.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
See and I'm currently on a mac and love apple but in the innovation and keeping up with the trends they have fallen behind. They need to turn the ipad into the normal person's laptop/tablet combo and add touch of some sort to the pros. Even I'm considering jumping ship to surface book if I wasn't broke, just because parallels is a great in between but still underpowered and slow to run most modern pc MMO's I want to play(if you can even get them running. Plus no one wants to do cross platform in anyway for whatever people might play on another system.
Don't get me wrong that new touch bar is awesome, but I really wish they would've taken it a step further than they did...

Re: NX Predictions Thread
I think it's clear to anyone who's actually thought about it that Skyrim is coming to the Switch. You can't just showcase such a well known game so prominently in so much of your trailer and not release it without expecting a shit-storm. I mean, geeze, people sued Sega over Aliens: Colonial Marines for false advertising; you better believe that crazies would sue Nintendo and Bethesda over that trailer if Skyrim were just absent.

Ehh...they did more than that though.samsonlonghair wrote: What actually changed: The new Macbook Pro replaces the traditional row of function keys with a touchscreen bar of contextual soft keys. They changed -all- ports to USB-C. The internal SSD is yet another proprietary connector, though at least it's removable as basically everything else is soldered to the motherboard or glued in. "Maximum potential RAM" means fairly little when it's not upgradeable at all anyway.
The one non-touch strip Pro also cuts the port count in half and uses slower RAM/etc for no apparent reason. They discontinued the one remaining upgradeable model (granted, it was old), and the base price of refreshed models went up in price by hundreds of dollars.
Plus no desktops, some of which have literally been on the market for several years without dropping a dollar in price.
IMO, most of the criticisms regarding the Mac event have been quite valid. The new machines aren't necessarily bad, but they're pricey and aren't exactly a compelling upgrade. It would at least be nice to see options.
Coming from the MS event the day before, it was probably disappointing. MS didn't have perfect (or cheap :/ ) devices either, but they did have some compelling products to show.
