It's the reason I bought a console, and frankly more excited to me than adding another Zelda to my backlog would be anyway.
What exactly attracts you to this game that you bought a console just for it?
Why was the Xenoblade sequel the reason I felt comfortable buying a Wii U? Because Xenoblade Chronicles is one of my top 3 RPGs ever, probably in my top 10 games overall, and the sequel won't be playable anywhere else. Because everything that's been shown of the sequel makes it look bigger (!) and prettier than the Wii game. Because RPGs are typically one of the weakest genres for Nintendo consoles - but this games means there will be at least one "must play" RPG on the system.
If your question is really why I enjoyed the original Xenoblade so much that I'm willing to go nuts for a sequel, well, that game hits pretty much all of the points I want from an RPG. I loved exploring the world, enjoyed the combat systems, felt the story was interesting, and really liked being able to choose which character to play as as any time. The game design felt really polished and encouraged exploration - lots of fast travel options, ability to change time freely when trying to complete side-quests, not giving any meaningful punishment for deaths. The way you could revisit old areas to uncover new quests or (later in the game) see significant changes to the environment was also really cool and helped keep me playing the game for well over a 100 hours on the first play through.
Also worth noting that I didn't buy my Wii U console
only for the Xenoblade sequel. That game announcement was the tipping point, but everyone knows that Nintendo consoles offer the usual lot of other exclusives (that consistently end up being some of the best-rated games every generation, and are more family-friendly than what you find elsewhere).
You are free to feel differently, of course.
