Sometime's "generic" games are quite fun. This one sure is.

Took the 3DO out of storage last night just to make sure the bastard still worked and held saves okay. Ended up playing a combination of Guardian War and Lucienne's Quest for a couple of hours. I have little time to dedicate to gaming right now, but I'd like to (re)play both of these in their entirety come January.

They're surprisingly good RPGs, and perfectly bridge the gap between the Sega CD / Turbo CD and the PSX / Saturn. Microcabin was a highly underrated developer.

First impressions of Blur: Very fast, and very fun! Granted, this is the first racing game with real cars (or anything close) I've ever played, but it's giving me a very F-Zero meets Mario Kart vibe. F-Zero's crowd sizes, car destruction, and crazy speed (but with none of the horrible bottomless pits), combined with all of the power-ups of Mario Kart. So much fun, but a bit stressful. Gonna have to play it in fits and bursts because I think I get a little too worked up playing it, especially considering I'm not very good at racing games (The only way I really know how to take corners is to smash into another car or the corner to have it align me the right way: I have no idea how to drift with the hand break or whatever Xp).

I still think Burnout is my favorite arcade racer series of the recent past. Another interesting one that came out around the time of Blur is Split Second it has some pretty awesome set pieces and traps scattered about the map that you can trigger to take out other cars only bad thing is it can be really hard to come back from getting knocked out during a race :P.

I still want to get back into racing games sometime. Might grab some of the Forza's on 360 or something. It was a really fun genre up through the PS2 era and all. I'll always have a soft spot for the Rush series haha.
