As for not making money with Triple A titles this coming gen. , I think this is the publishers' fault for being greedy. We have:
1) like 7 or 8 call of duties in 6 years?
2) 4 Assassin Creed
3) 3 Gears of Wars
4) Not sure how many Resident Evil's
5) 3 Bioshocks
6) 3 Forzas
7) 3 Uncharted
You get the idea and with expansion packs its impossible to cover up for your high budget games. I am all for high budget games and they tend to be my favorite kind of games but publishers should stop being greedy and thinking that if they made a multi-million dollar budget game, its sequel will always bring just as much money and so on. Most sequels are more of the same game, personally I dont like to play same game twice.
I like the idea of 1 IP per console lifetime like Skyrim where they put their whole effort into one game, we get a better game and their chances of success is higher than making 5 Skyrims. Or they can release one game at launch and the sequel by the end of the console's lifetime. After 5-6 years consumers are excited again to pay for the game and re-experience its world . But a yearly update is just too much considering how much competition there is. let us not forget retro-downloadable content , indie games, expansion packs , and more. They are trying to squeeze too much.

Skyrim isn't a new IP, it's the sequel to Oblivion.RCBH928 wrote: I like the idea of 1 IP per console lifetime like Skyrim where they put their whole effort into one game, we get a better game and their chances of success is higher than making 5 Skyrims.

Yea. Oblivion was also on 360/PS3/PC. And as for Skyrim being a pinnacle of quality? There is no denying that a lot of people like the game, but it's plagued with all sorts of glitches. And is/was POTENTIALLY completely broken on PS3 when enough play time was accounted for. Game just gets slower and slower.
Re: New Xbox releases in Nov. Will be called "Xbox"
I think there are installments almost yearly (or every other year) for most of the "retro" franchises that people on this site often cite as their favorites. So, I don't see the problem with newer franchises doing this too as long as the quality stays generally consistent (which it has with most of the series you listed).RCBH928 wrote:As for not making money with Triple A titles this coming gen. , I think this is the publishers' fault for being greedy. I'm curious because I saw this mentioned elsewhere, but isn't what Microsoft doing technically manipulating the first sale doctrine?
Of course, leave it to Microsoft to figure out all of the loopholes with their highly paid legal staff.

That's where the whole "Games are licensed, not sold" thing comes inFerretGamer wrote:I'm curious because I saw this mentioned elsewhere, but isn't what Microsoft doing technically manipulating the first sale doctrine?

That's hilarious. I actually had the thought that I might buy a Wii-U after reading about XBox One, since Nintendo looks like they might come out on top again.alienjesus wrote:This made me laugh: http://wiiudaily.com/2013/05/wii-u-sale ... ase-in-uk/
