Looks like someone applied the screen protector incorrectly. I have the same exact one and it works just fine.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Got a Sony brand starter kit from GameStop. Has a screen protector, cleaning cloth, system case, game case, headphones, and memory card. Everything but the memory card feels kinda cheap but it will suffice.
UPDATE: The Sony brand screen protector is horrible! For starters, it doesn't stick properly. Even worse, there's a Made In China sticker right on the damn thing! I tried picking it off my my fingernail but of course it doesn't come off evenly and left a bunch of sticky residue. Avoid at all costs!
Guess I'll look into some Hori stuff....

Re: Playstation Vita thread
Oh yeah, I do know how to apply these. I've used screen protectors before. The bottom layer came off just fine. However I had a hard time getting the actual screen protector to stick. The main problem was the fact that the "top" sheet (the one with button holes) wouldn't peel off from the screen protector. The adhesive was very strong and I couldn't get them apart all the way. There was also a sticker on the actual screen protector (not the top sheet) which seemed like a big goof. I probably could have gotten it to work had I messed with it some more but I just tossed it and decided to get a superior product. I have a Hori PSP screen protector which was easy to apply and works great.skyknight wrote:Chill out man! There are three layers for the protective film, a top and bottom layer to protect the protector film - Hori's are the same as well (I have applied theirs for my DS lite, DSi XL, and PSP-2000/3000). And it looks like you applied the bottom layer (which has the residue to keep the screen protector sticky). If you didn't toss out the remaining ones, then you should be able to reapply the screen protector.BoneSnapDeez wrote: UPDATE: The Sony brand screen protector is horrible! I guess other people have had the same problem I have as I've seen 1-star Amazon reviews describing the same thing I just did. Either that or we all just suck at putting these on.
Re: Playstation Vita thread
I should note that this screen protector is actually 4 layers. So I think I know what you mean when you are saying it did not stick, but there are actually TWO layers on top stuck together. The 3rd layer is the actual screen protector and the 4th is the one you take off before applying the thing.
I say this because originally I thought I was having the same issue, but then I just pulled off the top without trying to separate the 2nd layer. And BAM. There was a nice looking screen protector on my Vita.
Still, matte is better.

lol okay maybe I should have given it a bit more time... if it has 4 layers then why the eff does the manual say 3?! Ah well, live and learn. I'll get a new one not be so much of a n00b next time.
Re: Playstation Vita thread
Haha. It's just that the top layer is really two stuck together. I apply screen protectors all the time because I work at a cellphone + computer repair shop, and i found it a bit odd too. Works great once you figure it out.BoneSnapDeez wrote:lol okay maybe I should have given it a bit more time... if it has 4 layers then why the eff does the manual say 3?! Ah well, live and learn. How much are the Hori screen protectors? Because you can probably get a pack of 3 - 5 screen protectors for $5 or less on Amazon or maybe eBay as well.

$7 shipped via Amazon. One pro of the Hori Filter is that it covers the entire face. That alone is worth the extra clams, imho.ZenErik wrote: How much are the Hori screen protectors? Because you can probably get a pack of 3 - 5 screen protectors for $5 or less on Amazon or maybe eBay as well.

That is nice. Although cleaning the whole thing enough to apply it with as little dust as possible sounds like a challenge now that my Vita isn't fresh out of the box. Mine only covers the LCD area.s1mplehumar wrote:$7 shipped via Amazon. One pro of the Hori Filter is that it covers the entire face. Cleaning my 3DS for a screen protector that covers the whole top face was difficult enough..

I hear ya. I'm extremely anal with my application. When I skin my portables I typically have some scotch tape at the ready for contact dust/debris, and a can of compressed air for those sneaky infiltrating specks of dust.ZenErik wrote:That is nice. Not to derail more than I already have......
but why y'all putting screen protectors on DS/3DS handhelds? Think they're gonna get scratched while playing 'em?

Re: Playstation Vita thread
Bottom screen because of the stylus. Top screen because of the issues with the bottom screen's frame potentially scratching the top screen. Plus I prefer matte finish for playing outdoors (and in general). I hate the reflections on glossy screens.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Not to derail more than I already have......

Even made sure that I got a matte finish screen on my 47" LCD. I was thinking plasma, but they're pretty much all glossy...
