Its amusing that after I messed with it, it still sounded almost the same.
There was a secret? I thought it just sounded like Gradius and it's the NES sound chip.

Yup. Forwards was too easy. I was surprised when backwards didn't really sound all that different.

Google'd Urmech (top entry on the wheel), and the second entry was Bard's Tale wiki, which also mentioned the code wheel. A couple searches later and I figured out which Bard's Tale game it was.

Doh, I tried to make it small enough to make it hard to make out unless you already knew what it generally was and might recognize one of the city names. Bleh.
