I'm listening to Hip Hop Hooray, because someone is driving around my neighborhood in a golf cart with it playing.

Que horrible

Punk.

Kind of.

It is like the DIY punk ethic 3 or 4 generations removed to the point to being amusingly terrible even if you like crusty old punk stuff.

I love Proleter's funky hip hop swing on jazz standards. He remixes Sinatra, Sam Cooke, Louis Armstrong, and others. Check out his other albums too, particularly the big band hip hop of the Curses From Past Times EP

I grew up listening to Peter and the Wolf on a Walt Disney Read Along Book & Cassette, so I was really happy to discover this album. It starts out sounding like a pretty traditional play of Prokofiev's classic composition, but it gets progressively jazzier and funkier as it goes along. It's really grooving midway through. Great fun!

Myley Cyrus, Moby, and Flaming Lips in some weird experimental-noise video.

Sharing for the WTFness of it all.
Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain

Over the last couple of months, we've been able to watch Miley Cyrus' friendship with Wayne Coyne and the rest of the Flaming Lips (minus Kliph) blossom in a pretty public fashion. Today, after teaming with the quartet for a cover of "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," she cements her relationship with the Oklahoma psych-rock weirdos by appearing in a trippy short film called "Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain."

The video was filmed while Cyrus was bedridden with an allergic reaction to antibiotics and, as Coyne told Rolling Stone, was "originally intended to be for a song that has a reference to the drug LSD." In the clip, a robed figure (Moby, naturally) tries to steal some technicolor goop (John F. Kennedy's brain?) from Cyrus with the aid of a naked blonde woman who's eventually kidnapped by a disfigured Santa Claus and a "lesbian bigfoot."

You can read Coyne's whole explanation of the video's concept below, but don't count on that making any more sense of the visual. It's all disturbingly psychedelic and accompanied by an equally terrifying sound collage, of course. Also, as Stereogum points out, it appears that over the weekend Coyne and Cyrus got matching chest tattoos of the Bangerz singer's recently deceased dog. You can also see that below. Their burgeoning bromance knows no bounds.

Watch "Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain" above.

"The video story is something like this: Moby is an evil, power-hungry cult leader. He wants the world's most valuable (according to our story) psychedelic supernatural possession... John F. Kennedy's brain....the brain contains the original formula for the drug LSD!!!

Miley Cyrus has the magic brain!!! And Moby enlists a nympho Manson girl-type blonde superfreak to go steel the brain from Cyrus.

She steals the brain from Cyrus while Cyrus is still in bed in a drug-induced coma. Cyrus finally wakes up and is mega-pissed that her BRAIN has been stolen. She enlists a burned-faced Santa and a lesbian Bigfoot ( that are hovering in a nearby spaceship) to hunt down the blond superfreak that stole her brain. They have a relentless pursuit, all the while Cyrus laments the loss of her magic brain and Moby gains powerful rainbows from hell. In the end, the blond superfreak kills Santa and Bigfoot and a baby mole ends up with the brain…

Oh yeah. And the Flaming Lips are disguised as rainbows, mushrooms and flowers watching from the sky room where a giant diamond explosion happens."
