Great game, beautifully done, wonderful fighting system - it might be high on my list now of favorite SNK fighters and I am glad I spent some quality time with it. Those last bosses (yes, there are two) are both brutal, though.
Yeah, they did this with several games. I remember the sub-boss in King of Fighters XI was a pain in the butt too. At least they didn't go the Samurai Shodown III route though and instantly give you a bad ending if you lose on the final boss.

The penultimate boss (Musashi) was a much bigger pain in the ass than the last boss (Kagami) because of his use of desperation moves that eat up what seemed like more than half your gauge.

I liked how beating the regular form of Kagami basically forces you to perfect the timing of your parry, whereas you could basically bluff your way through it or ignore it all through the rest of the game. Kagami's second form is especially nasty and strong, but fortunately he is not very defensively minded and most of his attacks can be avoided if you are careful.

Last Blade 2 drove me to the brink of madness with the sixth fight against Hyo. No boss in a fighting game has ever been more cheap than the sixth fight against that bastard, for me.

Also, they do the two boss thing in KoF '99 Evo, which I found out the other day. I was testing some stuff, and threw it in. I made it past the boss on one credit, and thought I had 1cced it, but no. He came back, and one of my characters was dead from the last fight. He wiped the floor with me, and I said, 'screw it.'

Played a little Alex Kidd today. I remember playing this a long, long time ago when it first came out. The music reminds me of Bonk's Adventure for some reason. It seems fun, but I need to play it home with a controller. Keyboard/mouse is more difficult.

KOTOR: Finished the Jedi Trials and am working o the farmer feud on Dantooine.

I also started Indiana Jones:FoA and got to the digsite. Traveling through the desert (I chose the wits path) was a pain - I kept getting sent back to the market.

beat the 4th elemental boss last night in Final Fantasy. Y'know the multi-headed dragon one? He was actually pretty tough. First time I died in the game. Twice! Anyway, having all 4 elemental crystals, I assume I'm getting close to the end of the game?

I just picked up High-Tech World the other day.

I was inspired to do a little research about Alex Kidd. I had no idea that the series has essentially been dead since 1990 (not counting ports/compilations) - with Alex Kidd in Shinobi World being the last game.

Hm, really? He's a fairly obscure character, I thought it was kind of a given that they had stopped making games for him.

spent some time in Chaos Tower (FF) which kind of sucks with these little timed mission things on each floor. Died, and decide to go and spend some $! I need new weapons, new spells, healing items, etc.
