Also, publishers would rather re-release the game on an upcoming system, Hd-ify it or whatever and then charge full price of $60 and people buy it. Why would they want to reprint older titles at a discount when they can, "remake," them and charge full price?RCBH928 wrote:Any one wonders why game publishers do not re-print retro/older titles? I know it will not workout for every title, ex.. Monkey Escape/RE1 , but I have a good feeling that some titles are highly sought after like Bangai O(DC), Metroid Trilogy (Wii), Marvel vs Capcom 2 .
Retro gaming and collection is on the rise, is it not worthwhile to reprint these and sell like 10k copies for $20 each? I trie ebay these games are selling at arond $50 used!

More common would be digital releases that have 10-15x the potential user base. Bangai-O is on XLBA. MvsC2 was, until Capcom's Marvel license expired. DC was 10.6 million ever sold, PS3 and 360 are 80 million and change each.BogusMeatFactory wrote: Also, publishers would rather re-release the game on an upcoming system, Hd-ify it or whatever and then charge full price of $60 and people buy it. Monkey Escape?
I actually googled it just in case there was such a game. Thanks for the laugh, though.

^Tried playing that, but the MP sucks. So hard to find a match. Usually just have to resort to the campaign, which is short and not very satisfying.

Has anyone beat Heavy Rain? I just finished it and enjoyed it quite a bit. The gameplay was somewhat annoying, all QTEs, but the story was really interesting and addictive and I haven't played many games like (Snatcher on SCD comes closest). I would really like to see more games done in this style.

I have played it and I loved it. Let's put it this way, my wife's repertoire in gaming tends to stick to Nintendo games and she played that game in one sitting all night.Retrogamer0001 wrote:Has anyone beat Heavy Rain? It is a great work of interactive fiction. People can argue about the QTEs all they like, but that is honestly the only way to really handle this type of game. If you liked this game, I recommend Indigo Prophecy as well (although it has some huge story flaws, it is from the same people and in the same style). Another game from the same guys is Beyond: Two Souls which I would recommend as well!
You don't get many interactive fiction stuff like this and it is a shame, as it would be really interesting to see how people would approach the genre.
Out of curiosity, how did the story go for you (in spoiler tags of course).

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Glad to see someone else enjoyed it as much as I did. I honestly didn't really mind the QTEs too much, but there were some annoying parts where they really hampered the interactivity. There were also (in my opinion) some unnecessary aspects of the game I thought were just plain silly - for example, why do I have to shave in this game? Why do I have to make eggs? Little things like that bugged me.BogusMeatFactory wrote:I have played it and I loved it. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I have, though I got the crappiest ending.
A little too easy to slip into with that game, I think. The ambition towards having the narrative adapt to characters failing/dying is cool, but I felt like it could have used a better "retry" type system. Beyond: Two Souls, bad writing aside, does at least ensure the player gets through the full story.

Really? I made a lot of mistakes (or so it seemed) and I think I still got the good ending. I think the QTEs are a big factor but I was pretty good at them by the end of the game.isiolia wrote:I have, though I got the crappiest ending.A little too easy to slip into with that game, I think.
