I started that series about a week or two ago and enthusiastically blazed through the first half, but for some reason I now lack interest in making more progress in it. It's rather strange, but looking back on it the show almost feels hollow for me somehow.ZenErik wrote:Currently watching Fate/Zero. The story is a bit goofy, but it's a good series. Definitely worth a watch.

I'm up to volume 19 >_<. I breezed through 2-13 before Christmas (I needed references for sprites, damn it) but had to take a break because, well, 13 is kind of heavy (read: Damn!). So, yeah, luckily doing that before hand cleared up all of the glaring plot holes.brunoafh wrote:Be sure to follow up with the manga if you liked it, it handles the entire storyline much better than the anime in general, and goes far beyond the seemingly bizarre cliffhanger ending of the anime.Michi wrote:I finished watching Berserk last night.....My, that ended abruptly.
It was interesting to compare the differences between the two, though. I was actually surprised with how much they left in. I think it was surprisingly faithful considering how graphic the source material is.

It's definitely a great adaption, one of the best I've seen, but nothing can hope to be as good as the manga. Got that new OVA series coming out soon, wonder how that will compare to how well the anime was able to adapt the manga.

bruno have you read any of Buronson's other works? It's funny since HnK looks like an oddball for him, everything else he's done seems to be heavy with mafia material. Sanctuary I hear is really good and well just everything he's done looks cool and manly.

I was thinking maybe I'll finally watch Berserk after finishing HnK, might make my chest explode with hair like a gorilla.

Watching the Gargoyles
(if that counts as anime, which it SHOULD!)
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Hell it could probably pass as mecha/power armor, I remember that made up half the villains.Hazerd wrote:Watching the Gargoyles(if that counts as anime, which it SHOULD!)

Yes I've seen other stuff from Buronson. HnK is defintiely a bit of an oddball work of his but all of his writing a similar feel. HnK is the only one he knocked it out of the park though imo. Not sure if you know or not, but he did a one-shot collab with Miura (Berserk author/artist), it's called "Japan". It's not that great but it's worth a read. (edit: He also did King of Wolves)Xeogred wrote:bruno have you read any of Buronson's other works? If you go straight into Berserk after HnK, it's definitely possible that your manliness levels will sky rocket. Definitely let me know if you dip into Berserk because that's my all time favorite anime/manga and obviously would love to discuss it. But, of course keep my updated on your thoughts on HnK and that is also in my top 5.
Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Yes and no, very much like Berserk / Trigun, the ending is terrible but even in a worse way. Here they decided to throw out the manga and took a completely different direction towards the end breaking away from the canon material, rendering it impossible for there to be a sequel unless they rebooted it. Basically they completely funked things up. The ending to the anime was absolutely awful compared to how the final arc went down in the manga, and then right after where the anime leaves off the manga gets insanely good.
The anime was decent, if you're a reader I say just go with the manga though. There's a pointless kid that plays a bigger role in the anime too and he's barely anything in the manga.
It's a monthly manga like Berserk too though (okay Berserk takes even longer sometimes from what I hear lol), so the chapters are usually pretty long and the art is really damn good, but yeah it could be awhile before it's finished. Still I think it's like near 150 chapters or something, so quite a bit of material there. The anime didn't even get to the meat of things and even if you don't go in comparing it to the manga or anything, the ending was just bad.
