I agree on NIN's cover being a standout, but the songs by the Cure, Rollins Band, Thrill Kill Kult, Helmet and Pantera are also very strong. There's really not a throw away track on the whole thing.noiseredux wrote:the NIN cover of "Dark Souls" is great though.

Except that they weren't really all darlings of the time. Sure NIN, RATM, and STP were, but many of the bands on the album had either not really broken or were still more obscure (e.g. they didn't get much radio play). In any case, the album introduced me to some bands that I then went on to like, and for that I appreciated the collection.Hobie-wan wrote:dsheinem wrote:Pretty much that whole album is really solid. Even for the bands I like (or liked at the time) I thought the songs generally paled to their normal output.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Speaking of RATM, there's a rumor going around that they're working on a new studio album. Apparently this info came from an interview that was translated from Spanish, there hasn't been any official word on it. I've been hoping for a new studio album since they first reunited for Cochella.

That would be sick. Few albums come out nowadays that I really look forward to, always good to see stuff from some of the great early 90's bands.Ziggy587 wrote:Speaking of RATM, there's a rumor going around that they're working on a new studio album. Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Fair enough. It just had the opposite effect for me for a lot of bands I already knew about or was starting to get sick of hearing so much as I still listened to the radio occasionally at the time. Anyway, the score less common to find but is excellent.dsheinem wrote:In any case, the album introduced me to some bands that I then went on to like, and for that I appreciated the collection.

Get Rich Quick Scheme #4
Breed white Chinchillas and dye them to look like Pikachus. Red dots on the cheeks, bright yellow fur with brown stripes, and Black Yellow Brown tails in the shape of lightning bolts. Sell them and charge for re-dying, accessories (pokeball excercize ball, lightning shaped chew toys, electricity themed vitamin nutrients etc.), and general raising guidance. Provide pet sitting services in the form of experience raising per hour.
Get Rich Quick scheme #5
Breed TK-1 genetically modified fish in my country and sell them as well as cheap imported black lights to all the surrounding pet stores at a good deal in exchange fr anonymity (they're illegal right now here).
They're Zebrafish with specialized Jellyfish DNA bred into them to make them fosflorescent like fireflies in regular conditions, in most colors of the rainbow. The colors weren't developed in a lab, but bred from hobbyists. Requirement: need contact with said hobbyist.
Get rich quick scheme #6
Develop superfluid that's fowl, everyone will buy at inflated prices and has no discernable use except what you say it does but costs more than the others:

If it's non poisonous and alcoholic, all the better...
