Lots of Hardball '95 and Super Hang-On for me lately.

More people need to play the tournament mode for Super Hang-On. It's one of the most fun and unique sports racing rpg's I can think of. Usually when you think of the game you think about the awesome arcade rig with the plastic motorcycle you could actually "ride", but the Genesis game is a lot more than that.

You have a crew, you race countless races, you have to repair any damage from accidents, and you constantly upgrade your bike with your winnings.

It's pretty deep for a game about racing motorcycles.

I agree. Super hang on story mode is top notch. And there's a quaker steak and lube in the next town that has the hang on arcade machine :)

I've been playing rocket knight adventures and Streets of rage 3. Sor3 is good mechanically, I'd say superior to the 2nd one, but unnecessary sprite changes, a poor soundtrack and the difficulty being kicked up to eleven holds it back.

I blame sevin0seven for introducing me to SoRR, thus ruining even SoR2 for me. I'll still fire it up from time to time, but I mostly want to play SoRR instead now.

Two things, how long does it take that site to authorize a registration anyway?

And 2-3 weeks ago I re-entered with full intent to stick with it, the Sega Genesis universe. I found a sparkling beauty of a non-TMSS model 1 system up on ebay with a game and 2 controllers at a great price (only RF though, got an a/v cable a few days ago -- wow big difference.) Locally I snapped up a good little selection of common games for just a few bucks a piece, then I started hitting up online at the same time. I knew what I was going to go for, a few I used to have, and then to grab more and experiment.

Buying and playing on this system is a joy and a relief compared to the Nintendo competition of the era (both of them.) People still just dis Sega entirely, the values on the games when they're just carts is like Nintendo of a decade ago as most of it can be bought under $20, a good bit of the rest more or less at/under $50. I think the worst I saw was MUSHA for $150 as a cart and $300 for the complete (pristine) package. It's like a happy shellshock. I had a Genesis back around 2000-04 but never had time to play it a lot with having a dozen plus systems and a few thousand games around life/job/gf. So even the stuff I had I'll try and learn and enjoy more now and it has such a distinct flavor to much of it it just feels much different. The Konami stuff, not so much, but the others yes.

I have this stuff so far: http://tanooki.byethost16.com/segagenesis.html
I didn't update it, but I got a 6 button controller and Vectorman today for $7.

I'm curious, with me not having lockout, I take it screwball frauds and homebrews like Mega Man WilyWars for NTSC or something like Fix it Felix would work just fine?

I think it's time I started buying some of my big wants for Mega Drive. It's been a system I've (mostly) neglected since I started building my retro library, if anything because I had it as a kid and I wanted to build other libraries that were newer to me.

That said, there's still a ton I want for the system - games like Rocket Knight, Soleil, Gunstar Heroes, Toejam and Earl, Wonder Boy in Monster World and a bunch of others.

I did finally pick up a couple of new games recently - Ecco the Dolphin 2 and Alisia Dragoon. I'm not sure what made me buy Ecco 2. I'm probably a masochist.

Alisia Dragoon is one that I've been meaning to pick up for a long time. I played it yesterday and it's fun, but a little..clumsy perhaps? It seems like you will take a lot of damage and they've balanced this out with more health items rather than less aggressive enemy attacks.

I'm eventually going to get another Genesis for my game room. It will take time and I can buy anything till next paycheck unless it was like 3.00 lol or free.
When I get one though I will buy an everdrive for it this time. If I can't find a good bundle and I'm not talking about rare gems, I'll go get these games for now since I think everyone I ever know had these games,
First get the Genesis 6 pak
Mortal kombat 1,2
Streets of rage 2,
Street fighter,
Sonic 2,
Nba jam,
That should be enough for now. I think everyone I know growing up had these games and they are the cheapest except for streets of rage 2 which is around ten bucks.

Solid selection mas, I've got some of those. I never grew up with it, got one in a trade with a box of games for helping out an australian like 15 years ago get a Gamecube from the US. Was an long distance gf I had for a time so I'd help ship stuff down there to save money and get around jerks who wouldn't ship out of the US. I had SF2 then don't want it again as I prefer the SNES one, but I do have MK1 even if it's inferior just for the non-censorship with a simple code. I do have that 6pak too, it's a must and it has streets of rage. Never have I tried ToeJam and Earl, lost one when I got distracted last night which sucks as it was cheap and the sticker in good shape.

Sega stickers suck, the die so so easily, right up there with the flimsy stuff Nintendo fell into on N64/GBC.

Alisia Dragoon is my things to look out for as is Wonder Boy right now. AD I played on one of those sega handhelds with the SD card like 5 years ago and really dug it, but hated I couldn't save. It never really felt clunky, just hard, but the wealth of health pop ups really helped make it not infuriating as far as I did get with it.

Not clunky, clumsy. Like, it controls great, but it kinda sometimes feels like they throw more at you than you can handle. Enemies are fast, come in big groups, your character is a big target and you can't easily control who you will hit with your lightning - basically rather than being a game where you do your best to avoid all damage, you will take damage, it's just about minimizing it as much as possible until you find more health. The amount of hits you can take before dying lends itself to that conclusion too - they know you will get hit quite a lot.

I liked alisa dragoon. It was a fun game. The store I go to has one for like 15.00 or so.
@tanooki: I think those will fine for now till I save up for an everdrive.
The collector in me wants to go back to my habit and just buy buy buy. No the responsible Rob in me now realizes and looks around the house and says "save save save and wait"
The everdrive is what I need to do with every system I own. This way no cludder, no mess, and anyone who comes over can play what they want.

A buddy mentioned I should just trade in tomba 2 and another gem and I can get the Genesis easy like that. I'm thinking about it since I never play it. I have played it and I'm not that much of a fan. Maybe I'll play it tonight on my crt and see how it plays and looks compared to a lcd
