DREAMCAST VGA QUESTIONS! come here for everything VGA w/ DC.

quick question, not sure is answered already but I recent tried hooking up my Dreamcast with VGA too my HP S2031 monitor. I noticed it will not go down to 640X480 only 800X600 so the picture was a little off but I also noticed that there where these weird light green lines running from top to bottom on the screen vertically. Are those because of the resolution issue? I know the S-video port works on he VGA box(got it from here) as that is what I am using on my CRT tv. Thanks for your time. Also is it worth getting a VGA to component converter to upscale it to 720p?

Adam Koralik also post another video "Sega Dreamcast in HD 1080p with HDMI" http://youtu.be/JXvXE-Nqr54. The box is $99 from Amazon; however, you still require the DC VGA Box as well. It's not true 1080p, although it scale it up and looks slightly better. He also said its worth it if you are a fan of Dreamcast.

Thanks, will probably go for the 720p option for that price. With that video I did notice a bit of improvement, do not want to push past the limits of the system.

Ok so i ahev a vga box and it has always worked great! But im now noticeing that the vga is showing lots of lines which i can ajust in setting but overall quality has gone down and the s-video does not work. It still looks really pretty but should i get another new box? I got this one used

They are not that expensive. Just buy another one...

And don't buy the small cable like ones with only 3.5mm phone jack. They suck donkey balls..

recently got myself a lg 42lv550t but i am unable to play dreamcast in vga mode i get a invalid format message ,all thought my tv works perfectly well when i connect my laptop to it in 640x480 .according to the manual the tv supports vga resolution of 640x480 horizontal frequency of 31.469 & vertical frequency of 59.94 is this compatible with the vga box ?

can anyone confirm if guilty gear x works with vga? the list says it does but all i get is a black screen.

I can assure you that Guilty Gear X most def works with VGA. It looks simply stunning running on 640x480 res. It may be you monitor or TV that refuses to display it!

Your VGA Box, Adapter etc come equipped with a Aux jack for audio. If connecting to a PC Monitor, you can connect some speakers into the audio jack of the VGA accessory. A good amount of Current TVs have a audio jack input along side their respective VGA input. If such is the case then all you need is a Male to Male audio cable. You do the math.
