What gods of gaming? My PC is probably as strong as or stronger than most people here.

The most glorious pantheon of all: the pantheon of Ack. You seem ok though, so I will grant you demigod status.

Ohhh. Yeah, I'm not that level yet. I'm humbled my demigod status, however. A thousand thanks, your holiness.

I can safely say that out of all the mid-30s dudes I know in real life, and I know a lot due to my job, only one of them is a fervent gamer. But he's an Xbox One online games only dudebro type gamer. He refuses to touch anything that isn't current generation. Which is funny, because a few years ago he thought the 360 was amazing, but now he thinks the 360 and all of its games are junk now. I digress. The point is, the last time I told a guy my age that I like video games, he looked at me weird. I asked if he ever plays anymore, and he said... "well, sometimes I play Xbox games with my 14 year old son, but not really". What does this dude do for fun? He fishes. He fishes every free minute he has. Fishing is more entertaining than commanding a squadron of mechs to lay seige to an opposing army, you see.

This man needs to have his head examined. The only thing better than using mechs to kill an army (preferably with flamethrowers and rocket launchers) is turning a hoard of zombies into meat paste with a chainsaw.

I even bothered to go fishing with him a few times, just to give his hobby the benefit of a doubt. I was very, very bored every time. Fishing's something I'd do if I had to in order to survive. It's fucking boring as piss as a hobby though.

On the flipside, I've played some fun fishing games in my day! Dreamcast has the best.

Dude, no kidding. I always said if I ever went fishing with my best friend from high school, we'd need a big boat, a generator, a small TV, a Dremcast, and a copy of Sega Bass Fishing. I can do that for hours. Real fishing? I'm bored in like five minutes.

I wasn't a PC master race guy until consoles just evolved into nerfed PCs anyway.

Though I'm not going to be one of those crazy people who cares what platform people want to use because it doesn't matter in the slightest.

I did a little fishing this weekend... and was pretty bored. But then again, there are folks that love it. I'm not going to rag on 'em because they enjoy something I don't. Kinda like how I don't like certain genres of games, they just like different genres of hobbies.

Heck, most TV is the same for me, I won't sit down and watch for very long. But we're all wired differently.

Bring a book. Seriously, guys, you get to read AND experience the thrill of the fight if you hook anything.

I don't go fishing very often, but when I do, I make sure to bring something to occupy myself with. Part of the reason guys like to go fishing is because they can usually relax in some way while doing it. Some fellas find the solitude or being surrounded by nature to be relaxing and rewarding, similar to something like hiking but far less strenuous. Personally, I admire the scenery for a bit and then read, or if I'm with someone, I'll have a conversation and perhaps a couple of beers. If I catch something, great. If not, no worries, I was there to just unwind anyways.

And then I go back to playing video games.

It's less that we were criticizing people who like fishing and more that we hate it when people criticize gaming but act like fishing and hunting are somehow "real" hobbies for adult men.

I agree with TV, though; the only thing I can watch for hours on end are anime, ghost shows, and Cops (it's my white guy guilty pleasure....).

Heh, no worries about TV shows. My girlfriend and I have a soft spot for cooking shows and stuff like House Hunters. We know it's fake, but sometimes it's interesting to look inside other folks' houses.
