Not:
TAKE THIS WALTZ, but I can't wait to see a pre-release. Sarah Silverman goes but ass naked full frontal, and I've always been attracted to her. I assume the scene I haven't seen, yet, may be toned down, but I hope not.
I need to write a script close to THE EXPENDABLES but instead of all the action stars I love, have the movie star all the chicks I've wanted to see topless and just sitting around eating grape pop tarts while watching cartoons.
Maybe call it THE EXPANDABLES, starring Natalie Portman, Christina Ricci, the girl from the Tabasco commercial, the chicks from That 70's show, and "that girl I almost slept with, but it took almost three weeks to get to third base so I called it quits". *cameo buy the girls from 'Friends' and Jessica Beil.
*edit* also a cameo from Jessica Rabbit, preferably a nonchalant cameo where you vaguely see her in the background on a television.

I just watched Expendables over the weekend. I laughed hard. Mickey Rourke is beyond ridiculous. Somehow you just know the guy is living out his fantasies in that flick.Luke wrote:Not:

Requiem for a Dream:
Not a fan. They should have called it "Shooting Up Montage: THE MOVIE". I like Aronofsky's movies. But this one was just too annoying. I just didn't enjoy it at all. Apparently it's on tons of "mindfuck" movie lists like Primer, Donnie Darko and the like... uh, yeah there was no fucking of minds to be had. It was about addiction. No hidden meanings there what-so-ever. I was looking forward to a film that left questions like DD or Primer. Maybe that's why I didn't like it. I dunno. I'll give it another go in a few months.
Let Me In:
I saw this in the theater when it came out because I loved Let The Right One In but I watched it last night just because. It was a decent remake. Faithful to the film, but not as faithful to the novel apparently (I'm 70% through the novel at the moment btw). Anyway for an Americanized remake, it was pretty good. I love Chloe Moretz, she's just awesome as Abby/Eli. And Smit-Mcphee was awesome as Oskar/Owen.

I have the box set from around '99/'00. It's got the Nightmare Encyclopedia, whose content can be accessed via a short DVD game (or as a standard menu). It also came with two pairs of 3D glasses to watch the bonus 3D ending from Freddy's Dead.BurningDoom wrote:Don't know if this is exactly the right spot to post this, but it seemed to fit.
I bought X-Men: First Class the other night from Wal-Mart (excellent movie, I HIGHLY recommend it, great story, great special effects, great style to it (if that makes sense)) and while I was there something else caught my eye:
They were only $10 a piece. I snagged those suckers up. 8 Freddy Krueger films! And the awful remake is nowhere in sight! I wanted to share with others so if there's any other Nightmare fans they can take advantage of it at their local Wal-Mart, hopefully.
I'm planning on upgrading my copy of the first film, though.
And those 4-packs from Warner Bros also come in other varieties, such as Blade (1, 2, Trinity and House of Cthon) and the Superman and Batman movies (I have the Batman one, cuz in the long run it was still cheaper than buying 1-2 individually).
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I think this film was a lot more powerful at the time of release than it is now, as many of the themes and techniques used in the film have popped up in cinema since. At release, I remember lots of people feeling physically sick by the editing techniques and way that the camera lingered over some disgusting images. I think the movie still holds up as a great example of telling and showing a cautionary tale, but it isn't as powerful as shock cinema anymore.indecks wrote:Requiem for a Dream:

Ranking Aronofsky films is hard. I think I'd have to go something like:
The Wrestler
Pi
Black Swan
Requiem for a Dream
The Fountain
Putting those last two at the bottom of a list seems a great sin. The man has not made a mediocre film yet.

I agree, The Fountain even with it's issues is still a great movie in my opinion and it's just beautiful, it haves an amazing soundtrack, it's gorgeously shot and the symbolism is really neat.dsheinem wrote:Putting those last two at the bottom of a list seems a great sin. Yeah, it's streaming on Netflix, but the DVD/BluRay is where it's at. The making of doc for the movie is probably the best one ever made. Stallone, as director, keeps confusing adjectives with verbs. My favorite by far is when he describes an airplane as "Ah man, that is sex"s1mplehumar wrote:

I wish there was a documentary on southern rap.
best I've come across was when MTV aired And You Don't Stop, an on-going docu-series on hip hop. There was an episode devoted to the South, and it was good. I think I have it on VHS somewhere actually. The South episode wasn't all-encompassing, but it had the expected Outkast stuff and No Limit... I remember it touched on David Banner, etc. It was alright. There definitely needs to be like a serious and thorough doc on the scene though.

An old one: Terminator -- starring OJ Simpson
