I tried a few - Destiny, The Division, Overwatch - but I've pretty much sworn them off after getting burned on the latter two even with the servers up. I won't say I'll never buy another one, but my chances of buying another online-only game are pretty much 1 to 99.strangenova wrote:This fact one hundred percent influences my purchases of games for modern consoles. From all I've read, you can play Verdict day's single player story mode offline. That's all I care about. I only play Armored Core for the solo campaigns, which may seem odd, but look who you're talking to.Xeogred wrote: I didn't get the vibe Verdict was playable offline in any capacity. You need to get Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast or GameCube. Right now. Brilliant single player mode.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Splatoon has a shitty single player, but it technically does have one. What do you enjoy about the single player mode so much? I understand why you enjoy Ys so much, but what's the trick with PSO?BoneSnapDeez wrote:You need to get Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast or GameCube. Right now. Brilliant single player mode.

Re: Games Acquired 2017
I'm gearing up for the summer gaming challenge; so last night I picked up a few Wii Virtual Console games:
Gate of Thunder (TG16)
Lords of Thunder (TG16)
Super Fantasy Zone (Mega Drive)
I also received Moro Rodeo, the last "red label" game I needed for my 2600 collection, in the mail today. One more subset down!

It's just an incredibly addictive, brilliantly-designed hack and slash ARPG. Everything it does it does well - music, graphics, dungeon design, and so on. It's one of those few games where I completely lose track of time while playing.Exhuminator wrote:What do you enjoy about the single player mode so much? For the uninitiated, those are late era (1986-1990) Atari releases, though a great many are re-issues of older games.

I put in 90 hours on PSO (GC) offline. Nuff' said.
Some of it was split screen co-op with a buddy though.

17-19. PC Flight Stick Bundle $9 I always find these interesting So I pick them up when they are cheap.
- Microsoft Side Winder Force Feedback Pro
- Thrust Master Fighter X
- Precision Instruments Joystick
20. Xbox Console w/ Controller $23
Should have passed on this really. Guy had it in a box in his truck and noticed me look at it so even though I wasn't interest I asked him how much he said $40 which was definately a no go so then he asked how much I would give seeing as I didn't really need it I threw out $20 which is my go to price for spare consoles. He said that would be fine and then when I got out money asked if I would go $22.50 which at that point I was like fuck it whatever sure enough he didn't have change so he just made it $23 as well. So I get the box and while there is a controller there there are no hookups
when I checked it out at home I also noticed it looks like someone has tried to open it before so it's probably going to be a good chance it's got issues
.
21-22. Gamecube Lot- $20 Totally made up for the Xbox a few days before
. They a also had a copy of the second Compendium (comics #49-96) of The Walking Dead for $10
. Had the first compendium for about a year now and I've been waiting to bump into a good deal for the other ones
.
- Black DOL-101 w/ hook ups, Official Silver Controller, and an official 1019 block memory card. Almost missed the memory card guy was nice enough to walk around the market and find me after I left it
.
- Zelda Windwaker (GC) Disc only and pretty scratched up but I've been wanting a copy for the collection and I plan on playing the Wii U HD remake when I get around to it.
23. Marvel Ultimate Alliance (Wii) $1 Disc only in rough shape but I thought I'd give it a chance with my resurfacer.
24. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (PS2) $1
25. Rugrats Scavenger Hunt (N64) $3.18
