yeah SOTN rules hard.

Ok, so I'm on level 5 of TR Anniversary. And I have been on level 5. For 4 hours. :|

 It sounds like that game is even harder than R-Type Delta!

BTW...When I unlock unlimited credits after 3.5 more hours of play, I am going to slay this beast. I may have to stay up all night to do it...but it shall be done.

(How far in did you make it last summer? Will the back half of this game break my will?)

I was exaggerating - the clock does say 4hrs on this level, but who knows how much of that was me just leaving the game minimized when I did other stuff. Haha.

I was going for single credit... and I gave up when I couldn't make it to the stage 2 boss.

Getting through this game on a single credit would make you the king of video games, and I admire you for even trying. If I make it to the end without breaking a controller or swearing in from of my children, I will consider it one of my greatest video gaming accomplishments.

I haven't played SotN either. I do own in now though (well, the Xbox 360 and PSP ports, not the PSX/Saturn games). It didn't make my summer list, but I'd like to finish it before 2014 is done with.

Bone, play SOTN as soon as possible. It's amazing. Either port will do, but the 360 one really does look great.

I feel like TRA should have been called Tomb Raider: How Many Ways Can Noise Throw Lara Off A Fucking Cliff?

I love this game, but I hate it. It's so so good. It's also a buggy mess (on PC anyway). All the sudden she's decided not to grab onto ledges that I step off of, even though that's what she's done for the past five levels. Ugh. You'll probably all hear me complain a lot more before it's over, but the sick thing is I like the game itself enough that I'm compelled to keep playing.

EDIT: And on to level 6, The Colosseum. I've got 17 hrs clocked - again, not entirely "played hours." But still. Funny. Howlongtobeat says it's like a 13 hour game. I'm not even halfway. Haha.

Finished Nightmare on Elm Street. Everything outside the final stage isn't too bad. I think it's one of the better early Rareware titles.

So, I guess it's 2-1 for Final Fantasy VI (sorry, prfsnl_gmr). I thought you guys might have more input, but I guess I can't go wrong with that choice. I'll probably start in a couple weeks unless I feel exceptionally motivated.

Ys = best series of all time
Final Fantasy VI = best individual game of all time

No worries. FFVI is a very, very solid choice. It is the first RPG that I absolutely loved, and the only one - other than FFI - that I have completed multiple times. I hope that you enjoy it!
