The image on yours looks bad with the herring bone interference. Maybe there are a couple of pins shorting against each other or not making contact with the Dreamcast connector port? Try playing with the tint settings on the monitor to compensate. You can save a separate custom setting in the monitor menu for the Dreamcast signal.
The "herringbone interference" is only visible on the photo itself and not in person. The resolution looks great, although with an annoying red tint. I messed with every menu on my Sony LCD settings and nothing changed. I did notice, on the RGB values, that "green" stays in the middle and it could not be changed.
I tried reconnecting every cable and still no luck. I connected my Sony LCD monitor to my my old Sony laptop and it displayed everything normal. I need to test it on a CRT to find out if its a defective DC VGA Box from Racketboy; I hope not!
I appreciate your input! BTW, what game do you play with the light gun?
How do the connector pins in both the cable and console look? Also flip the switch on the box back and forth a few times.
As for VGA CRT Lightgun, the best: Dreamcast HOUSE OF THE DEAD!

The connector pins in both the DC VGA Box and console look intact. Yes, I flipped the switch (TV/PC) a few times and nothing changed. I rechecked all the color settings on the LCD nothing really changed. I guess I'll try to trouble shoot it with other equipment later.
Is Virtua Cop for Saturn only? I took a gander at your links and very informative!
I apologize if this was mentioned before in this thread (I tried to scan through everything).
I just ordered the vga box from RB and realized my HDTV did not have VGA (stupid, i know). I have component, composite, and hdmi. I have two questions:
1) A VGA -> HDMI Converter would be my best bet, correct?
2) Would my tv still need to support dreamcasts native resolution with me using this converter box? Or would only the converter need to support it?
and a third- Any recommendations on VGA -> HDMI conversion boxes? I'd like to keep it under $50.
I ended up buying a VGA to HDMI converter from monoprice. It displayed a picture but it was very washed out. I tried it on multiple TVs and all had the same result. There was no way to fix the colors and it looked like garbage so beware if you decide to go this route.
I found out my TV supports DVI through an HDMI input with just a cheap adapter. So I'm trying VGA to DVI to HDMI.

I'm pretty sure it will only support the digital signal from the DVI port. In that case VGA won't work...

Racketboy Nick sent me another box after I returned the defective one. Everthing works great now! I appreciate your help as well!

Well that's disappointing but I had a feeling it wouldn't work. I will try a VGA to Component transcoder I suppose. Hopefully that will get the picture I want.
I've been using a cheapo non-Rackboy VGA cable (not box) for a while. But I've noticed that some games do not work while others do. I suspect that it has to do with my Vizio 32" LCD not supporting 640 x480, although I'm not sure since it carried 480i/p over component just fine. The games that work fine are Soul Calibur, Shenmue, Ready2Rumble 2 and a few others, but NFL Blitz 2K and 18 Wheeler do not. Is it possibly a problem with my TV? Would another VGA box help or not matter? Should I bother trying other boot discs as Utopia 1.1 and 1.2 would not display.
Crap. I have the exact same problem, VGA doesn't work on my nice shiny new 32 inch Vizio.
quick question, not sure is answered already but I recent tried hooking up my Dreamcast with VGA too my HP S2031 monitor. I noticed it will not go down to 640X480 only 800X600 so the picture was a little off but I also noticed that there where these weird light green lines running from top to bottom on the screen vertically. Are those because of the resolution issue? I know the S-video port works on he VGA box(got it from here) as that is what I am using on my CRT tv. Thanks for your time. Also is it worth getting a VGA to component converter to upscale it to 720p?

Adam Koralik also post another video "Sega Dreamcast in HD 1080p with HDMI" http://youtu.be/JXvXE-Nqr54. The box is $99 from Amazon; however, you still require the DC VGA Box as well. It's not true 1080p, although it scale it up and looks slightly better. He also said its worth it if you are a fan of Dreamcast.
