I have a feeling you're talking about Eureka Seven show.
I actually got this game today for a very shinny penny (40 dollars). For this, I didn't even have a chance to play it yet. It's really an old style RPG game but you play with SD Gundam. The fun thing about the game is you can mix and match how your Gundam will look and what weapon it can carry. This is actually the only attraction I am actually want to see as the storyline for this is really bland as we see this too many time in other RPG (aka: you're the only survive from an attack from the enemy and now the whole game is really you going to destroy the enemy for what they did). Most of the complaint are either storyline is bland, graphics is not on par for what the Ps2 can do, character development is so-so, etc. Basically, a average game really.

I am on a ps/ps2 rpg kick right now, and this one I have heard very little about. You are right though, it is fetching a decent price at the moment.
You'll have to let me know what you think of it when you get a chance to play it.

Well...I think I can give you a very brief description of what I think about this game.
Very Brief Review:
A cliches rpg game that doesn't have much to give you, but what it does give you, you will have some fun in it.
Detail Review:
I just play for almost 4 hours in two days and from what people say about this game length, I am around 12 % complete. This is what I can say about it.
Storyline:
Yea, this is as cliches as you can get for a JRPG.
* Main Character is a teenager who lost his caretaker from an attack of the enemy at the orphan home.
* Main character (with the help of his male partner) want to seek revenge from the enemy who kill his caretaker by using mobile suit.
* Main character go in this journey where he help the people in the world to fight against the bad people. Along the way, he meet couple of people who will either help/hinder his goal.
* Main character found this girl who don't remember her past (another cliches) but will become a pivot point near the end of the storyline.
* Main character meet a person who (I am guessing here) will become the main villain who he was suppose to kill.
I think I don't need to keep on going but I think you know how this is going to end. Basically, it's a typical old style RPG during the 1990s. This mean, the storyline will be cliches. This is either you like it or you don't as some people still like this form of storyline format. I for one don't mind it too much but they is limited for me for this.
Music:
Nothing really much to say about it. It does the job well in the game but it isn't something you will remember after you finish the game.
Gameplay:
Like I say about the storyline, this is basically an old style RPG game, which mean they use the turn based style combat (like the old final fantasy game). What really make this game shine (and also the main selling point) is the customize of your own mobile suit. You're really using parts of different mobile suit and put it together to make your own one (think of Front Mission but much not that detail). Also, the weapon system is really like a Diablo equipment holder where certain mobile suit have certain amount of size to hold a weapon. If you play Diablo game and have to keep moving your equipment around, this is basically the same thing.
Character:
Because I am still early of the game, my opinion of the character might change. As of now, the character you meet are kinda generic type you see in most JRPG. You have the main character who have a strong personality of justice where he will fight to protect the weak people while at the same time find the people who was responsible for the attack of the orphanage.
You have the side kick who is kinda the " I will run away if the shit hit the fan" personalities (aka: coward) but will complete the mission with his friend.
You have this mysterious female character who forgot her past (cliches) but you do know she is someone who is very important later on.
I can keep on going but yea, I hope you got my point there.
Graphic:
Okay, the graphic of this game is really around average but a bit better. They isn't much detail put in the graphics of the mobile suit, background, characters, etc and you will start to notice it. I can say, it look like those early to middle Ps2 games lifespan. This is sad as the game came out very later on the the Ps2 game life. Even so, seeing your mobile suit fighting does look nice for a while.
Other:
* Not a fan with the camera angle. It's those that you can't move it with the analog stick but it will move as you move around the area. This doesn't help when they is object which will block your camera if you move in a crowded area. I think if you play for a bit, this won't be a major issue but an issue I still have.
Conclusion:
If you like old JRPG game, J-animated game, or even Gundam game, give this game a try. With the problem it have, it's still a fun game to play (most for the customize of your suit).
If you want something original or very creative type RPG game with better storyline, interesting character, or unique battle system, then this game might not be something you should check out.
Other people on the fence, should at least give a quick play of it.

Re: What's the rarest game you own?
I'd say the three rarest I have are Golden Axe Warrior for the SMS (the CIB US version with an intact UPC sticker!), and Chrono Trigger and Mega Man 7 for the SNES. I recently picked up Chrono Trigger in a trade and I got MM7 as a Christmas gift years ago. I found Golden Axe Warrior at Goodwill for about $4 seven years ago.
