Hm, well I guess you guys decided this stuff before you ended up with like, hundreds upon hundreds of games.
I've had to downsize my collection a few times for various reasons, but I almost always ended up regretting it down the line. I guess I just like the idea of having a large library of games to choose from when I'm in the mood.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I tend to go in the constant waves with my collection. I get a ton of games for a while, then I feel the need to get rid of a bunch of games. Then I feel like my shelves are empty and I need a bunch of new stuff to play. Then I feel overwhelmed by how big my backlog has gotten. Sometimes I feel like I need certain games as part of my "library" other times I wonder why I bought some games and never popped them in.

I was actually very close to getting lots of games for no apparent reason. Had I had access to an American NES or had I not spent so much time with TF2 I know my collection would have been absurdly big by now.AppleQueso wrote:Hm, well I guess you guys decided this stuff before you ended up with like, hundreds upon hundreds of games
I fear toothing my own horn but I think my latest blog post explains how I feel at the moment.
Looking for a cool game? Find it in my blog!

I just decided to give up on a backlog. I'll play whatever I feel like playing.
I try to stick with what I start enough to finish it though. Doesn't always work out but eh.

Thats where I was too. I lvoed having the option to play the games... even though I rarily played them.AppleQueso wrote: I guess I just like the idea of having a large library of games to choose from when I'm in the mood.
I think its a bit different for me, because the games I truely love require hours upon hours to even get decent at. With the library to choose from, I was not getting anywhere in any of them. I'd love to actually manage some impressive scores in some of these games, but I can only do it if I really sit down with a game, to the point where I still play it, even when I'd rather pop in something else.
it may not sound like much fun, and somtimes it isn't, but when you finally get to taht score you've been practicing at for months, there is nothing like it.

That is awesome. My gf has very few games she is really in to, but if I try to get rid of one of those, she gives me 'the Look"cookie monster wrote:For the most part i get games to enjoy when i get around to them. Aww wtf, my avatar is gone already? Thats what I get for changing it after a year.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I like seeing discussions about downsizing, it's like therapy for me since I've started to get rid of a vast majority of my stuff as well. I love collecting mostly for the N64 and having only a very modest stack of games for my other systems. It may not look cool but I'm happy with it. I still like seeing other people's pictures of they're huge and colorful collections but I personally couldn't handle having all of that stuff. I like things to be simple. Before I started collecting, I had like nothing in my room. haha

Yes, I am a game hoarding bastard. I'm constantly getting stuff, and rarely ever get rid of anything.
I'm with dsh in the sentiment of “how do you get rid of it?” Anytime I even think about it, I shudder.
