Ack I remember that clearly and acknowledge it entirely. COD4 wasn't bad, I just didn't get into it repeatedly but the sequels were a downhill slide far quicker than WW2 ever was. I know it ran thin but the FPS makers seem to have just blinders. They'll pound one aspect into the ground until so much bitching occurs they do something else, they lack the insight to spread things out and give some variety. When you then toss it to the wolves of multiplayer comes first, all the worse at least for me.
I'm hoping that despite certain media and multiplayer whiners getting all that entitled and upset grumbling going over how Wolfenstein was handled that the game still had a large base and rated quite well we see more variety like this. FPS doesn't just have to be about a bitch campaign of a few hours to sell a multiplayer package and re-sell lots of added packs in DLC yearly to the people who gobble it up. Multiplayer only FPS I think they saw with MAG and a select few others don't do well by themselves in sales or support so that's why I think we're stuck where we are. Thankfully Wolfenstein is out there to show you can still go back and have it be fun, well staged, nicely written, and long enough to be worth the money.
Elkin: No doubt, I'm enjoying it. It's a challenge to me even on easy because I'm not used to the fast run and gun stuff on that type of game. I'm more calculating, even was so with the old DOOM1+2 back in the 90s but when I had to I'd lay out some fast fire in a large room trap of imps and stuff. This one seems to relish in having everything about move fast or die which I'm not normally a fan of, but the design still works well as an nice blend of old and new. Plus the story just works very well in the part I've pulled myself into so far.
Oh and aliens and lasers? Yeah you get right on that, Call APOGEE and get Blake Stone resurrected.
