You forgot to mention the insane amount of health the robot has, too.Ack wrote:Actually, I beat him last night. He's probably the most difficult boss for several reasons:
He does more damage than any boss in a single hit.
His hit box seems oddly placed.
He's the only truly unique boss.
And I noticed as I continued on through the game that boss fights became easier as I got used to fighting each villain. Surprisingly only Shriek ends up changing her style and becoming more difficult by relying more and more on her vertical attacks to escape and assault, and even this can be cheesed. I discovered on the rooftop fight with her against Spider-Man that she has a bad habit of escaping to the same spot over and over again, so eventually I just trapped her in place.

He does, but I wonder if it really comes down to that or if it just seems longer because you can't get any combos in and usually only hit once or twice at every opportunity with your weakest punches. I think Carnage has a lot more health during the final fight...and then its sequel.

I actually liked Separation Anxiety more than Maximum Carnage. I know my opinion is not the general consensus. Separation Anxiety allows for two-player cooperative play. I feel that this is an essential element in any beat 'em up. Single-player beat 'em ups always disappoint me. Play Separation Anxiety with a friend; that's what makes this game more fun.Ack wrote:So how is Separation Anxiety in comparison to Maximum Carnage, anyway?

Oh yeah, I forgot about the 2-player. That's definitely a plus for Separation Anxiety.samsonlonghair wrote:I actually liked Separation Anxiety more than Maximum Carnage. But Maximum Carnage did have slightly better graphics. Maybe it was just me, but on Separation Anxiety the colors seem to bleed a little more. Minor complaint, though.

I always get pissed off when I play Maximum Carnage after a long time and remember it's not two player. Overall, I still think it's a better game than Separation Anxiety, as far as music (the theme song is so good), visuals, level design, and bosses go. It would have been even better if it was a two player game though.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Trying to finish playing DKC3 at the moment, hoping to finish it late tonight or early tomorrow so that I can add it to my list of beaten games for this year. I want to try to make 2014 a definitive SNES year and would like to finish all the major titles for the system - Earthbound, Robotrek, FF2, Illusion of Gaea, et al must be beaten.

It's a major title in the Quintet game library.

Anyone ever play King Arthur's World? Just got it today - it's kind of like a medieval Lemmings. Very cool, I'll have to sink some time into this later. It's not an expensive game - so if you see it, but it!
Oh and I hit something of a milestone too - 100 SNES games! Ack, I am catching up!
