So other than buying a CRT monitor, theres nothing that will stop the lines.
Fair enough then, like i said already, they aren't very noticable, i'll probably pick up a CRT monitor eventually when i have the space for one, I can put up with them, just wanted to know why i was getting the lines and if they were a normal occurance
For the Racketboy Dreamcast VGA box, does anyone know if Dreamcast pin 10 (C sync) and pin 6 (VGA select) are connected and available inside the box? I would like to be able to modify the box to switch between RGBs and RGBHV. Thanks in advance for the help.
My dreamcast appears to be VGA-incompatible with my new TV.
First off, I've been using the DC to VGA connector offered by the RacketBoy store. It worked perfectly fine with an old computer monitor (naturally) but does not appear to register with this new TV.
I'll have the VGA cable hooked up to the PC input. Without the DC turned on, the TV says "No Input." When I turn it on, the TV screen turns black for a couple of seconds, and then says "Not Support." Even the audio won't go through, using a male to male headphone cable from the DC-VGA box to the PC audio input jack on the TV. I've tried this with two different VGA cables (which both worked on the old monitor), with no success.

Dumb question, but it merits asking:
Is the VGA box connector pushed all the way into the DC that the red LED lights up?
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis. Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
Well i know evil dead hail to the king is not a vga game but you can make it work via the dc-x disc or you can trick it by turning it on in normal mode then right when you here it load switch it to vga mode it works every time!:)
Except for jo'jos bizzare it just wont work no matter what i do which makes me very sad
My s-video will not work on my vga box?? I mostly use vga but for the few games that wont work like jo'jos bizarre which i have tried everything thing i normally will use s-video but i figured out it does not work on my box. I Did buy it used.

Anyway, my VGA Box's input into the Dreamcast apparently came with some pins that were bent too far down on the right hand side (when holding the curved side up). When plugging in the VGA cable, the color Green was entirely absent. The screen had a severe red tint. I tested it on 2 monitors with the same result. I then used a thumbtack to bend up those two pins, hoping it would make contact and the green colors would show up. This worked on the first monitor, but it seemed that the menu screen had a flickering problem in some spots. It seemed almost like the 480p was stretched too far over this 22" monitor.
Thanks,
Kevin
Hi,
I was hoping to find out if I have an issue with my new DC VGA Box (from Racketboy) or perhaps my Dreamcast or monitor. I hooked my Dreamcast to the DC VGA Box and then to my Sony LCD monitor (SDM-S51), while playing Crazy Taxi. The color seems to have immense red tint and the color green is entirely absent as well. For example: The taxi color and game time should be yellow; however, they are bright orange and the green "stop here" locator is invisible. The picture and sound are great though!

I have almost the same Sony LCD computer monitor (SDM-HX73) and it displayed the Dreamcast VGA signal fine. I switched back to a CRT VGA monitor to gain the Lightgun capability. The image on yours looks bad with the herring bone interference. Maybe there are a couple of pins shorting against each other or not making contact with the Dreamcast connector port? Try playing with the tint settings on the monitor to compensate. You can save a separate custom setting in the monitor menu for the Dreamcast signal.

The "herringbone interference" is only visible on the photo itself and not in person. The resolution looks great, although with an annoying red tint. I messed with every menu on my Sony LCD settings and nothing changed. I did notice, on the RGB values, that "green" stays in the middle and it could not be changed.
I tried reconnecting every cable and still no luck. I connected my Sony LCD monitor to my my old Sony laptop and it displayed everything normal. I need to test it on a CRT to find out if its a defective DC VGA Box from Racketboy; I hope not!
I appreciate your input! BTW, what game do you play with the light gun?
