So excited about this album, dropped yesterday, The Infamous Mobb Deep...

Disc 1: New studio album intended as a throwback to 1995's The Infamous...
Disc 2: 1994 Infamous... Sessions - outtakes, demos, etc
Disc 3: The original 1995 album*

*original album seems to only be part of the Amazon digital "super deluxe" edition, as far as I can tell.

im not even in the loop on this jigga/drake beef, but i do gotta check out that track with Electronica...that dude can bring out the best in jay-z's phoning-it-in ass, i swear. his verse on Shiny Suit Theory was one of this best in years. related: Electronica's a no-album releasing bum.

I'll spell it out for you: It's to sell records.

And for the record, Jay-Z isn't rolling spliffs with Hillary, and he's old enough to be my Grandfather. Nothing against his age though, Lord knows his best track was produced and co-written by a white guy in his sixties.

Jay-Z was never into weed. Ever. In the book Decoded he talked about how the only time he really even smoked in his career was cuz Biggie pushed it on him, and then proceeded to out-freestyle him to teach him a lesson haha.

I hadn't heard about any beef w/ Drake? Something new? I mean they've done plenty of tracks together.

most all beef these days is for records, i just haven't seen if it was enjoyable or not. Common had a nice go at him but it was short lived...right now anything to get jigga to even halfway try again would be interesting. again, for me we're at a point where his last few albums have been trying this grown man shit that Nas outdid in "Stay" off his last one.

For me, Jay-Z peaked at Reasonable Doubt.

Though, I have have to admit "Money aint a thang" is hilariously awful. He puts diamonds, out form his pocket nonetheless, in champagne. Oh that Jigga.

this is maybe the most ridiculous statement I've seen in this thread. I mean, if you're just meaning to say "Reasonable Doubt is my favorite," then fine. That's something. But if you think his talent/skill peaked at his first record, that's just crazy.

Blueprint, Black Album and American Gangster are all well above RD for me. And I do think RD is a classic.

+1, i don't put American Gangster quite that high but Blueprint and Black Album are absolute classics in my mind. RD as well & i revisit it often but i do think it's odd to say he peaked there...his style/flow developed by said albums as well.

but yeah, he's on the list with Em, Snoop and others (in my book) that have been coasting by for the greater part of a decade now. they get a pass for their better work, but it's still a shame to see so much of even their own efforts phoned in.
