Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games?

The stick, however, seems to have a bit of weight in pricing, given its minimum seems to have it 50e and a lot the 'Bay listing have it going upward. This is a hell of a leap, considering Gamestop, Zavvi et al had been letting them go for pig-cents not too long ago. I picked up mine for £13 with free delivery.
I remember Tatsunoko vs Capcom being slightly less than $20 (at Gamestop, anyway) not too long before it went out of print, because I distinctly remember thinking "Huh, it went back up." So I think it did get a slight price jump, but not anything too significant.
In retrospect, I guess I can see why the Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick has gone up in price. I'm sure Hori made at least one, but unless I'm mistaken the Tatsunoko vs Capcom stick is the only one released for the Wii with any artwork on it (All right. There's a DreamGear one with artwork on it, but I have no idea who that person is supposed to be).
That and I hear the TvC stick is easy to mod, so maybe that has something to do with it too.

I don't think there are any especially rare or exceptionally valuable Wii games. Am I completely wrong? I mean, there can't be more than a few games that fetch more than their original retail price, right? Were there really some with VERY limited runs? The whole thing seems silly.

A few games are selling for amounts above their original retail price. (For example, a sealed copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy recently sold for $150, and open copies sell for amounts between $65 and $90. Likewise, Dokapon Kingdom sells for $90+ sealed and $60+ open.) The vast majority of games are selling at tremendous discounts, however. Likewise, there are some very, very rare Wii games. Games like Mr. Bean's Wacky World, El Chavo, Guilty Gear XX^Core+, Fritz Chess, F1 2009, etc. appear to have had very limited print runs, but none of them are particularly valuable.
Given the breadth of the Wii's libray and the very low print run for some games, I think it is fun to speculate as to which games will sell for significant premiums in the coming years. As I wrote earlier in the thread, I remember when copies of Earthbound (SNES) could be purchased new for $10, but a cart-only copy of Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen cost $75+. The former has increased in price significantly since that time, and the latter - which currently sells for $70 - has actually decreased in value since the late 1990s.
This thread also provides us with a good opportunity - as collectors - to discuss rare games and hidden gems on a system that is not currently favored by most video game enthusiasts. In fact, I just learned today that: (1) Big Buck Hunter Pro was released for the Wii and (2) it is both rare and - by Wii standards, at least - quite valuable. (This is not surprising considering the following this game has developed in certain social circles.)
None of us can predict the future, and it is silly to speculate as to which games will gain value in the coming years. It is still a fun discussion, however, and I have enjoyed this thread quite a bit.

Funny, the +100 other posters who have contributed to this thread don't seem to think so...

Thanks to Mas post on this game, the reason I made that long drive.
Gamestop has even raised the price of a Nintendo Selects game! They no longer sell Wii Pikmin 2 as new, only used at $29.99. By not calling and driving instead, I confirmed the game is sitting on the shelf at the Gamestop location, looked pretty good as a CIB used game. Gamestop is one of the cheaper prices when you consider the online prices which are starting to creep up. However, I did not buy it!
Due to a late release compared to Japan and Europe, this game only sold as a Selects twenty buck game here in the US. I suspect it has a lower production run due to the late release.
As mentioned, once in a while the game can be found on the cheap as new and even clearanced as Mas discovered at Best Buy. I found a store which I had researched ahead of time thru Google that has not one or two but FIFTEEN new sealed copies of Wii PIKMIN 2 being sold at the standard Nintendo Selects price at $19.99. The pile of new Pikimin 2 games are buried behind a stack of Wii Call Duty game discs.

Could have bought a few extra to resell at a profit, but that is not me so just bought only one copy. Saving this location for only Racketboy members, anyone who lives in Southern CA can PM me for the store location.

Please no resellers, leave the others on the shelf so others can have a shot of a sealed potentially very expensive to buy at a later date Wii game!

Re: Too early to start talking about rare/valuable Wii games
Is it wrong to not collect anymore and just buy games you want to play for the wii? I mean I have a chance to get that buck hunter game at my gamestop tomorrow but I really don't think ill play it. Maybe a round or two but I would rather buy a wii game I know I will play. that 15.00 can go towards goldeneye or donkey kong country returns or even Kirby epic yarn. I am trading some 360 games and the kids are done with that south park game and depending on the credit I get even though I want donkey kong I am leaning toward getting Kirby return to dreamland since it will never drop in price.
I don't know I used to go all out on buying rare games but if I never play them for me personally I cant see myself wasting money like that anymore. I mean I had rare games before and they just piled up. if I owned them once and never played them then why should I waste my cash and buy them again.
The weird thing is here we all are discussing about what everybody think what's going to be rare for the wii soon but wouldn't it be messed up if we all buy these games and find out games like ocean explorer and any other crappy shovel ware turns out to be the 150.00 game in the future lol
