how many HP movies are there???dsheinem wrote:Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (2009) – The film was ok for the first half or so, but unlike most Potter films I’ve seen, I felt that the directing, acting, and general pacing got worse and worse in the last 1/3 or so of the film. The action scenes were much less epic, the suspense was generally missing, and the cutting from scene to scene was not at all well done. We did learn some interesting information I suppose, but it was unveiled in a less than compelling way. This is probably on par with Chamber of Secrets, in that both are stinkers in the series.

Eight. One for each of the first six books, two for the last book.noiseredux wrote:how many HP movies are there???dsheinem wrote:Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (2009) – The film was ok for the first half or so, but unlike most Potter films I’ve seen, I felt that the directing, acting, and general pacing got worse and worse in the last 1/3 or so of the film. It is possible I saw several of them multiple times without realizing it.noiseredux wrote:I just counted. You reviewed 36 of them.dsheinem wrote: like 27 or something.

Green Hornet.. Not bad. I enjoyed Seth Rogen's humorous take on it, rather than going for a gripping, serious crime noir like most comic flicks are doing these days..
Also, thumbs way up for the Bruce Lee nods! (The Bruce sketch in Kato's sketchbook and the 5in. punch through a window...!)

Not to get too philosophical, but that's like asking "do we need a movie about Vietnam?". Movies an artistic medium, and that's a big part of why I appreciate almost every movie. Sure a lot of movies suck, but to ask if a movie is necessary is folly. We don't need a movie about growing up in New York when the only rules were mob rules more than we need a video game about a little blue dude with a gun for a hand, but it is entertaining.KillerJuan77 wrote:
I already knew that, it's just... did we really need a film about this?
Not trying to give you a rough time, but I think directors deserve creative liberty. Yeah, PASSION is overboard, but so is SCHINDLER'S LIST. I mean, if you want to talk about inaccurate portrayals, almost every German in LIST is a maniacal blood thirsty killer with no regard for life and we're led to believe that every German is a Nazi, and every Nazi is a German. Far from the truth.
But I don't want to debate about WW2 or PASSION. In short, if a movie makes you think, I believe it has achieved its goal. Mind you, not just a reaction from a movie (such as the Saw series), but if a movie makes you ponder on the events exposed, it's at least a quarter way to being a good view.

Batman Forever is the one where he does clothes karate. I honestly didn't think the introduction of Robin was too terrible in that movie. But the constant bickering between him and Batman got rediculous in the next one. Why even work together?
Joel schumacher is a great director. Falling Down? I totally think he could have done a good batman movie with the right script. But at the time the studio was pushing it towards being for kids, and I don't think he knew much about Batman. Plus Batman Forever did decent at the box office. So they just went in the direction that was natural. The movie still blew though.
I even think George Clooney could make a good Bruce Wayne. And maybe even a decent batman.
