I am getting into Famicom collecting, and I really had no idea how many there were. I am looking up a lot of games, and every other one is a Dragon Quest clone!
Dragon Quest isn't even that great anyway

The Mega Man 2 vs. 3 debate has raged on for decades now. I've gone back and forth on it for a while myself.
3 added some important bits that developed Mega Man more or less into his fully-formed state with the game changing slide and notable character additions of Rush and Protoman. We still didn't have the charge buster but whether or not that addition was a positive one is another debate.
I tend to fall on the side of Mega Man 2 these days mainly because the flaws in 3 became more apparent to me when I got older. Robot Master's and their stages are all fantastic but the second half of the game is kind of a rushed mess. Where the Wily levels in 2 continue to build on the game's awesomeness the Doc Robot and Wily levels of 3 go on way too long, are rushed and largely poorly designed and largely just feel like an after thought. I'm always keen to finish Mega Man 2 but the second half of 3 becomes such a slog.

I have lots of Famicom RPGs recommendations. Yes, avoid many of the
Dragon Quest wannabes and licensed slop. Go for the action-RPGs and more notable turn-based games like
Mother and
Final Fantasy II/III.

My advice (so far) is buy Ninja JaJaMaru-kun:

It's really fun!

The Mega Buster in MM4 is WAY more powerful than MM5's. That said, MM4-6 are cake walks.
I just replayed MM9-10 myself. I think 9 has better music but some of the Wily stage themes in 10 were really cool and sounded very X influenced. 10 had some nice gameplay changes and additions, so they probably balance out to me. I like how they're a bit harder than the NES games, but that could just be because they're still a bit newer to me. The changes to the difficulties is really cool too.
MM3 has always been my favorite because of the slide and Protoman. But MM2 is right there next to it.

9 and 10 are definitely harder than the original 6 since they were going after the hardcore audience and Inti Creates designers tend to be sadists.
9's final Wily was also a callback to 7's which is just evil, though he's not quite as hard since you have more screen real-estate to maneuver.

Did anyone get the new Megaman Legacy collection? I already own the other collection on the PS2 that has more games, but maybe the new one has some cool new extras or features? And it's not like I'd really care about 7-8 not being there... lol

I got it for 3DS because it's a bargain compared to buying the games separately on the virtual console and they're remastered versions made in a modern engine instead of ROMs. It has a good bit of the concept art from the Complete Works art book which is cool if you don't have it already. I don't think I'd care about the console versions of it other than to see Mega Man in glorious HD.
I haven't really messed with any of the challenge stuff yet so I don't know what that's like.
Edit: Oh, and my physical copy came with stickers her's a pic from someone's eBay.
