hm.....fair enough I guess I remember wrong, it just hurt me a lot not to own a console that had GTA xD. But it's ok I played the faaaaar superior PC portReprise wrote: Well, hang on. GTA was exclusive to the PS2 (and kinda PC) for ages before Xbox finally got their hands on the games. Gamecube did, for a while, get plenty of poplar games that the other consoles got. It got TimeSplitters, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, SSX, Burnout 1 and 2, WWE games, Fifa, Medal of Honor, Rainbow Six, Soul Calibur 2, Resident Evil 4, Call of Duty, Def Jam, Prince of Persia etc.

@ZeroAX It didn't really bother me too much, because as you said, the PC port made the console versions redundant

I used to work in the industry too and I know, for a fact, the reason why EA refused to support Sega during the era of the Dreamcast, was not because of previous mistakes Sega had made and concerns the company had that the Dreamcast would not sell well enough, but was actually because the president of Sega America once forgot to send EA a Christmas card. Also, I'm pissed off because I though the Dreamcast would be awesome, but instead I got a dust catcher, so I'm going to continue to belittle everything Sega does, because, well, Sega.
People will question it. There's no getting around that. That's just what happens.Tanooki wrote:Im seriously asking that because I get fed up with people questioning stuff I know is a fact as it was discussed.

Alright. You are more than welcome to spread numerous fallacies on the internet, as well as discount logical and rational conversation and I will be more than happy to ignore what you have to say.Tanooki wrote:I will continue to post the way I do bogus, if you dont like it I cant help that. I can not very well back up what I said because its not published online and you know that. How do you expect me to give solid proof of conversations from 2 months to 12 years ago? Some of the stuff I say about how companies attack others like the classic kiddie tag Nintendo got isnt going to be admitted to being done, you just had to be there or know someone who was that is fine off print talking about it. Im seriously asking that because I get fed up with people questioning stuff I know is a fact as it was discussed.
I truly feel the crap Im taking in this thread is because its a pro-Nintendo very pro-WiiU thread and Im not being nice and dismissing the issues of the WiiU. I went into it with all the hopes they got it right and have had a dust catcher for most of its life and thats why I post the way I do. I really like the system and what it does but dislike how it has been handled and will always continue to be. Sure I guess if I liked Nintendos archaic network policies and download games more I could totally get by with it but I do not, I got started at the end of 85 with the NES and I will always prefer physical media. I still very much love the company and the 3DS, will get the New3DS but Im seriously not going to buy another system of theirs again at home blindly without seeing proof of support because as long as they have two tiers going I wont be at a loss for first party experiences.
Pep: Thank you for picking up on the fact Im talking about the games being dismissed on physical media. That was the point, theres far less risk taking and variety here on physical media which is why I cut the line in those posts about that and saying the variety gets shoved off on download services and handhelds. Perhaps its also a reason why you see a lot more sales in portable gaming in many genres and styles of games.

Then it'd be more like the PC market, where games have to stand more on their own merits (and we complain about not having a unified marketplaceZiggy587 wrote: If Nintendo consoles today had all the same games that the Playstation and Xbox consoles have, then all the major home consoles would do pretty much the same thing. What would be good about that? It's the reason why most of us own a SNES and a Genesis, an N64 and a PS1 and a Saturn, etc.
Exclusives are great for platform holders, but I don't think they're especially a benefit to the consumer.
Those that don't elect to invest in multiple machines become a captive audience. Games don't necessarily need to compete with the best out there, just what else is available on that platform.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I guess you'll agree we both feel each other are entirely full of shit then bogus. The stories I spread about what I get from my work associates in the past and recently of people who actually make games are the truth. If you're too much of a fan or just too conspiracy theory feeling type to accept them I'm fine with that, but I do find it sad you just want to start an argument over it. If you want to ignore what I have to say then why are you arguing anyways, just ignore it or set me to invisible if the board settings has it as it makes no sense.
Reprise no doubt and that's a funny one too there. I used to know some of the reason why on that one but I don't remember anymore since they died as a console maker over a decade ago. Somehow it wouldn't surprise me if that did happen.
Ziggy, I can see your argument there, but I don't agree in the same way I don't agree Sony is that way compared to MS with their system. Sony and MS may have super similar capabilities with differing hardware, but what really makes a system is the games. It's not exactly the games everyone gets, it's the games no one else gets. Sony like Nintendo has a heap of first and second party developers that make a lot of fantastic games. The difference though is that Sony did what third parties asked for in hardware and Nintendo did not. So Sony is currently in the lead of the three machines because they offer up unique games and will offer up more as the re-do those franchises again on PS4 along with all the ported games. Nintendo just has their stuff and almost nothing handed to them from the outside, that's all the cripples them. They wouldn't be a me-too because if you value their unique games, like many value Sony's unique stuff (Uncharted, Gow, Jak, Sly, etc) people would be far more inclined to just own a Nintendo system and take those ported games that easily sell millions and not bother buying a second system unless they valued those unique games the other guys make too. As it stands now, the only reason to own a WiiU is for Nintendo games and the rare extra bone tossed to owners.

For no particular reason, I am going to leave this wonderful guide about discussions and arguments, here.

Something about Tanooki's writing style hurts my brain. I've not yet read one full post he's made in this thread, and my impression from the rest of your comments is that I've probably made a wise choice.
