Another one can be scratched off my list. Sin & Punishment: Star Successor has fallen. The last two levels were both epic. Cant wait to get someone to try the 2 player out with. Unless Vay really surprises me I'm pretty sure that S&P:SS is going to be my favorite game from this summer list. Even when it was frustrating it was still awesome.

I'm considering doing a similar Winter Game Challenge this year too. Just a thought.
Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011
My list was...
Final Fantasy II - GBA
Final Fantasy III - DS
Final Fantasy IV - DS
Final Fantasy V - GBA
Final Fantasy VI - GBA
Final Fantasy VII - PSP
Half-Life 2: Episode 2 -360
Portal - 360
Little Big Planet - PS3
Scribblenauts - DS
... but I've really been straying from it.
I beat Dead Nation, Outland, and Dishwasher: Vampire Smile within the past couple of weeks, and I started Dragon Age II and have put a ton of time into that game.
The only game from my list that I am currently playing is Final Fantasy II on the GBA. It's great so far, but I feel like I should change up my list a bit to make it easier to accomplish the challenge. I'll have to come up with some sensible changes tomorrow.

I just finished Homefront, it was OK, the last level is absolutely amazing though.

I'd be up for it. I doubt my list would be a good example of "classic" or "must-play" games though. It would more than likely just be a jumble of stuff I havnt played yet. I could probably get it to fit some sort of theme though.

Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011
Super Metroid (Super Nes) - Complete
Rayman (PS)
Harvest Moon (Super Nes)
Resident Evil Code Veronica (Dreamcast)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
Lightening Force (Genesis) - Complete
Paper Mario (N64)
Fur Fighters (PS2)
Phantasy Star (SMS)
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (PCE CD)
Beat Super Metroid! It was damn good, and I'm glad to finally be able to say I've beaten it!
I've tweaked my list some more. Switched Rayman 2 for the original, to go with Together Retro.
Switched Symphony of the Night with Rondo of Blood (which will be played via virtual console). I figured I'm pretty much guaranteed to love Rondo, and I know Symphony will be a struggle based on past experience (frankly it bores me), so it was a change worth making.
Switched Contra with Phantasy Star. I'm not really feeling the mood for Contra, and I've never actually finished a Phantasy Star game despite making progress in all but the third one. Its time to fix that.
Galaxy 2 is in progress, and Harvest Moon and Paper Mario will remain on the list.
Fur Fighters and Resident Evil haven't been started yet, so they could still potentially face the chopping block. We shall see.

Cool. This is on my list too...how long did it take you?
I am surprised so many people are changing their lists to make the challenge easier for themselves. It is like turning down the difficulty setting

I've taken a break from my list the past few days to play some other (recent) games. I'm pretty confident I'll still get through it though before the summer ends.

yeah I'm kinda surprised too. Especially so early in. Personally, I'm looking at my pile and saying to myself "dammit, I should've picked more short games."

Yeah, I didn't get through the last few on my list last year, but the ones I did finish were all titles that I had considerd classics that I wanted to play through. I got more from getting through what I did than I would have by subbing games that were shorter but more managable. Foks might find it more rewarding to finish 5 games that are longer/more challenging than they would to beat 10 that were finished for the sake of completeing some arbitrary goal.
Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011
According to the game clock, SM took me just under 5 hours, which I think is pretty good. It helped that I've played the earlier parts of the game before, so it went quick at the beginning as I remembered things.
I've started going back to get some items I missed now. There's one I haven't been able to reach that was driving me crazy during the game. I'm sure I can get it now that I have all the main upgrades, but I have to remember where it is first.
When are you planning to start playing it?
As for the list, for what its worth I didn't change my list to make it easier or shorter. I'd say Phantasy Star will take me a lot longer to finish than Contra would have.
Between that, Paper Mario, and Harvest Moon, I probably won't finish my list if I don't get a move on. But I'm really not worried about that.
Truth be told, half the games on my list were placeholders, thrown on because I couldn't think of anything else at the time. I intend to get to them at some point, but I don't feel the drive to do it anytime soon. Symphony of the Night, for example, has bored me to tears on previous attempts to beat it (Not that I feel that way about all of them, just the one). I had it on the first list just to be stubborn, but when I thought about it I figured I'd probably end up ditching it partway through. I guess its a mood thing.
I really didn't want to give up on anything after starting it you know?
Though if I had started playing any of them (procrastinator) I wouldn't have changed them.
