Your favorite super nintendo games

I thought about giving ActRaiser a mention too. It's one of the more unique games for the console and its soundtrack is an eargasm.

I didn't know you rated The Lost Vikings so highly! Nice.

It was the first truly great puzzle-platformer, IMO, and it has aged wonderfully.

Would recommend the MD version since the higher res helps with some platforming and there are a few more levels. Either is a good time though.

I need to play through that version someday, if do no other reason than to get through the extra content. The SNES version takes it, from what little I’ve played of the MD version, due to the extra buttons in the standard SNES controller. I know it wasn’t, but it was almost like the game was designed with the SNES controller in mind.

Play R-Type III if you get the chance. It’s on of my favorite games in my favorite shmup series, trailing only R-Type and R-Type Delta. It’s so, so good. (The GBA port is terrible, though; so, skip that.)

One thing that stood out to me reading through these is the prevalance of not super street fighter 2, I saw a few people list sf 2 turbo and the OG sf2, but noone picked super. Seems odd to me, any particular reason why?

No SF game made my list, but these days I do prefer Super for the nostalgia kick. That said, Turbo is often chosen because of lack of interest in the new characters (which replace 4 of the old characters in the tourney) and the sound/graphics are inferior due to getting the new characters in.
