Next Series: resident evil
Resident evil has a pretty hefty number of entries, and it is a series that has gone through a tremendous amount of change in its life span so comparing the games in the series won't be easy. I also feel that we should probably leave out the survivor series as they are just light gun games and probably operation racoon city as well since it is more of a multiplayer game.
The games up for rating are (and as usual, feel free to add in ones that I forgot)
Resident evil 0 -7
Resident evil on gamecube (as well as the ps1 original)
RE revelations 1 and 2
Resident evil 2 remake
RE: code veronica (the one RE game I never played so I will not rate it)
This is an incredibly tough series for me to rate since I enjoy all the games but I will do my best
1) RE4 (GC) --The game that began shifting the series away from tank controls and into more of a 3rd person action/survival horror. Everything about this game was magnificent, the controls, the eerie atmosphere, suplexing zombies, it is one of my favorite games of all time and overall my favorite in the series
2) RE7: the game that returned the series to more horror than action, this game was tense, creepy as fuck, and gave me nightmares. I was very disappointed when I heard it would be first person but playing it removed all the apprehensions I had, a true masterpiece.
3) RE6: controversial opinion here, I know this game will be low on most people's lists but I loved it. Sure it is much more action than survival horror but it is pretty riveting with lots of awesome set pieces and a cool story told through several different lenses.
4) RE2 remake: I just finished this game and it jumped pretty high on my list, it takes the 3rd person perspective from RE4 but removes the action parts, you can't suplex enemies here, your knife breaks, zombies are all bullet sponges, and there is constantly a sense of tension in everything you do. An absolute materpiece and a perfect example of what a horror game should be.
5) RE revelations 1 and 2: Both these games were made in response to fans wanting a return to survival horror for the series. They have enough quality of life updates to make them very much playable today, but still retain a more tense feel than the newer entries in the series...plus you get to play as Barry and that is worth high praise in of itself
6) RE5: this is a game that gets a lot of hate, it is like RE4 in many ways and while not as good, it is still a great game. I think most people dislike it because it really started shifting the series towards a more actiony slant
7) RE 0

Resident evil (gamecube)
9) RE 2 (ps1)
10) RE (ps1)
11) RE 3
the last batch are all great games in their own right and are probably the hardest ones to play nowadays because of tank controls. I haven;t replayed them in a long time but my gut tells me this is how they should be rated.
