MECHS! Assault Suit Leynos on PS4 physical is under 20 bucks (remake sure but there is a classic mode). Often under 15 bucks. Astebreed is on Steam and PS4. Cybernator is cheap for SNES. Zone of the Enders HD (if that counts) is out there. Final Zone on Genesis is fairly fun. Assault Suits Valken remake on PS2 can be had for 20 bucks or less(PS2 is retro now). There is some really cheap Gundam games on Dreamcast and Frame Gride (Virtual On meets Armored Core developed by From Software) is often 10 bucks or less CIB.
I been buying mech games recently as I am on a mecha kick so be perfect timing.

My wife loves Ms Pac-Man so maybe I can even get her to participate. I’ve only played a couple mech games ever, Mech Assault and a bit of Titanfall, and I know the ones I have played are more just FPS than other mech games. I’d be curious to play an older one.
I’ve never played an RTS and I’m pretty set in my ways, but if it wins I might try to find one and give it a go.
I was actually thinking about Ms. Pac-Man as well. Though that's certainly a game I've played plenty of already.
Anecdotal, but... I used to think I HATED RTS games. Like seriously hated them. But after playing Halo Wars 2 last year I think I've found a new appreciation. So maybe you just need to find the right gateway game?
Though if things keep going the way they are in the polls, I don't think RTS will be the winner anyway. Looks like it'll be a photo finish between 80's Ladies and Mechs.

You mean the world-hopping campaign where my Core legions traversed the Galaxy, engaging in multiple conflicts on each planet as I drive the terrorist Arm forces back to annihilation, first from my metal Core planets and to their eventual demise?
They're not bad missions, but playing through them does always make me miss having access to a full build roster. Also, Core admittedly has a nasty early game disadvantage due to the AK's limited firepower compared to the Arm's Peewee. Missions that focus on tactical assaults as opposed to strategic base building and defense are generally tougher for Core as a result. Because I'll say it, the AK sucks.

If Premillennial Mech Madness wins as March's TR, neither of the games quoted above would be viable for March's TR. "Mech" is only half the equation, the other half is said mech games must be released no later than the year 1999 or before, hence "Premillenial".

Some Pre-2000 Mech game suggestions:
Shattered Steel
BattleTech series (including all MechWarrior titles)
Gundam series (including Gundam Side Story 0079 [1999 release date in Japan])
Armored Core
BlaZeon
Front Mission series
Xenogears
X-Zone
Bangai-O
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Kidō Keisatsu Patlabor
G-Nome
Battleclash and Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge
Target Earth, Cybernator, and the Assault Suits series
Macross series
Xardion
Metaltech series
Bazooka Blitzkrieg
Total Annihilation
Imperium
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri
Vortex
Metal Warriors
Future Cop: LAPD
Armored Warriors
Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness
Tech Romancer
Iron Soldier
Omega Boost
This list covers FPS, RTS, SHMUPs, Beat 'Em Ups, Light Gun Shooters, Fighters, Third Person Shooters, simulation games, so on and so forth, and it is nowhere near comprehensive as to the vast number of mech games that came out before 2000. There are a ton of options out there.

So, I am not really at all interested in RTS games, but if you are and you vote for it and it wins, here's a long list of candidates:

Those of you who haven’t played The Guardian Legend, Metroid, or Phantasy Star need to get on it. Me? I’ll be playing...Athena, I guess...
Edit: Ghost Lion!!!
I actually started a playthrough of Ghost Lion last year. Maybe I should pick it back up!
Oh, as far as mechs go, don't forget Heavy Gear! Also, how do we feel about something like Battlezone '98? I know it fits in the RTS category (with significant FPS elements), but I guess the mech side is lacking. Although, if we want to stretch, the units are "mechanized".

It's an RTS. I will say that objectively because I have beaten it. It's an awesome game.
It also has a mech unit too: http://battlezone.wikia.com/wiki/Sasquatch
"Mechanized" is a slippery slope. We slide that way people will start saying cyborgs count as mechs and such. Let's not go there!

Anyone who hasn't played the remake of Assault Suit Leynos (a.k.a. Target Earth) should absolutely consider it if Mech Madness wins. It offers on the fly switching of graphics, a few nice additions and perks, and is one of the best of its genre.

Ghost Lion is okay. Kinda sloggy. It's like a Dragon Quest JRPG but with a Zelda heart container system.
