As of this writing, WB and FFS are tied 17 to 17. I really didn't expect WB to capture so many votes. But if it wins, that's cool too, as you included Adventure Island games in the listing. There are some metroidvania styled AI games I wouldn't mind an excuse playing.

BTW I thought Saiyuki World was a reskinned Wonder Boy in Monster Land, but Whomp 'Em was its own thing? Or is Whomp 'Em a reskin too?

Whomp 'em is a reskin of Saiyuki World 2, which is a sequel to Saiyuki World, which is a reskin of Wonder Boy in Monster Land.

The series is weird.

yeah it's confusing. Haha.

Wow, Wonderboy is in the lead now. I'm actually surprised. I think I myself wanted FF to win, but obviously I'll be happy with any of the four options considering they were my ideas, ha. Plus there's still time for things to change - as a reminder, you CAN change your votes in this poll.

Haha, my least favourite of my 4 options won too, but as said, they're all my choices, so any of them work for me

yeah, and in fairness the 2D platformers pick has definitely turned out to be a good one for participation. So that speaks volumes.

(Seriously, ya'll - Mizuguchi Month is a lost cause; just switch your votes to FF)

Thanks for the information. I wasn't aware of that. Though to be fair, the Wonder Boy / Adventure Island series have never been very interesting to me, so I haven't researched them much.

I'm still hoping Final Fantasy spinoffs wins. I'm saying that because January was a "platformer series" month. I don't particularly wish to see February also be a "platformer series" month too. Just seems a tad redundant being so close together is all.

Just in case Final Fantasy spin-offs does win, I need some help picking a good option. I already had some ideas for the other 3, but with Final Fantasy I've played a lot of the easily available spin-offs.

Wonder Boy & Adventure Island - I have the arcade version of Monster Land and a copy of Super Adventure Island waiting to be beaten, as well as the remake of Dragon's Trap on PS4. I also have the SMS port of Monster World which is generally forgotten and which I've been meaning to give a play through.

3D Zelda Clones - I've been meaning to pick up Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy for Gamecube for about 15 years, so this would be a good excuse.

Mizuguchi's Puzzles & Music - A tougher one, but I've never played Lumines, and I already own Every Extend Extra on PSP.

Final Fantasy Spin-offs - ?

I've already ebaten all the FF tactics games, as well as Crystal Chronicles, FF Adventure, and, if it's in the time range, FFXII Revenant Wings for DS. Most of the Chocobo games never made it here, and they don't interest me anyway. FF Legend series never made it here either. Most of the other FF spin-offs seem more modern - I thought about 4 Heroes of Light for DS, but it's not 10 years old yet.

Would Kingdom Hearts count as a Final Fantasy Spin-off?

Dude! Another good recommendation like the aforementioned Star Fox Adventures. This is the reason I thought 3D Zelda Clones would be a good theme... so many games to re/discover. Alas, that theme is in third.

The Legends games didn't come to Europe? I didn't realize that. Hmm.

I think you've already played Mystic Quest? I realize it wasn't even called FF over there, but... Have you played all the Crystal Chronicles games, or just the original? What about Crystal Defenders?

Would Kingdom Hearts count as a Final Fantasy Spin-off?

I would TOTALLY consider this a FF spin-off myself. And really, I think the point of these themed TR threads is to allow everyone to get as creative as they need to get in order to find a way to participate happily.

I went Adv Island x Wonder Boy. I remember Adventure Island fondly and certainly liked what I saw on TG and I've always wanted to play some more Wonder Boy.

I also threw a vote towards 3D Zelda clone, because I love Zelda, so playing some clones certainly wouldn't be out of the question.

I'd be okay with Wonder Boy. I have a line-up of three games (Dragon's Curse, The Dynastic Hero, Monster World IV) I'd be interested in playing.
