In a list full of nice selections, I find this combination to be particularly interesting. Is portability the main draw here?

It's a mix. Portability is part of it, but it's mostly that I always want games on console and physical if possible, and PALand got a retail release on Switch. The other part is that my personal gaming/collecting rule is that unless there are major feature differences, I get multiplatform games on the console I like the most, and I'm a big fan of the Switch. Lastly, part of my reasoning is the phrase "Vote with your dollar;" I want to see more third party releases on Switch regardless of how old or new, so I like to support that with my purchases. -goes back to playing Doom on his Switch-

Unless you already own it, just get Bullet Girls 2. It's superior to the original in every way.

Trust me, you don't want this. It's crap. Not even cheap crap, but obscenely expensive crap.

@Elkin

Yeah there are so many better Game Gear options than Panzer Dragoon Mini. Looking at the import scene, you'd really enjoy something like Royal Stone and the Shining Force games.

The Final Fantasy games on Famicom are so cheap. Just grab 'em up dawg.

Your PCE list is expensive. Yikes. Good luck.

Popful Mail isn't as fun as you think it's gonna be. At least not on Sega CD.

Skies of Arcadia is god-tier.

Guardian Heroes is the best beat 'em up all time. Maybe give it a try on XBLA first?

Lucienne's Quest is solid as hell. Lucienne's Quest is expensive as hell. The Saturn port is so, so cheap and so, so in Japanese.

Get the Phantasy Star games now how the hell do you not own those.

Solid second gen picks. I approve of all things second gen.

NES/Famicom
Final Fantasy III - only one on the NES I liked, but it's 110% pure dungeon crawling and super hard.

Master System
Sonic the Hedgehog - get this and the sequel, amazing overlooked gems!

TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine (includes CD)
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood - incredible but more of an action/boss rush kind of game than the rest, I love it though. And the music is godly
Cotton - I played an SNES Cotton game and loved it, I assume the whole series is cool

SNES
Castlevania: Dracula X - awful, just emulate this... not worth the cart price at all.
Contra III - S Rank Master Class

PlayStation
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Masterpiece
Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes - why not, I wonder how it's aged heh
Xenogears - story wise my favorite JRPG of all time, no clue what you would think though

Nintendo 64
Resident Evil 2 - sounds like a technical marvel in ways, but the PSX and DC versions are probably far more ideal and uncut with better music

Gamecube
Resident Evil - the more I replay REmake, the more I think it edges out both RE2 and RE4 for my all time favorite. There are newer HD versions, but the GC one is fine too

Xbox 360
The Darkness - I liked it at the time, had some Deus Ex / Riddick styled parts with hub areas and NPC's to talk to which is cool. I thought the sequel sucked

Game Boy Advance
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow - one of my top favorites

I'm feeling good after winning that PC Engine Duo. So feedback time! Tackling Elkin's list here. I'm gonna do the same as Exhuminator, and we can compare notes later. :)

2600: Not sure here, probably Joust.

5200: Pitfall II, baby. I didn't know they did a 5200 version.

7800: Let's go Ms. Pac-Man, 'cause Double Dragon don't look so hot...

Jaguar: Welcome to NBA JAM Jam jam!

Intellivision: Dig Dug?

Vectrex: No idea, honestly.

NES/Famicom: Final Fantasy III. For sure.

Master System: Probably Sonic.

TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine (includes CD): Oh, hey, I should probably start paying attention to this now. Rondo. Although it's too expensive for my tastes.

SNES: Contra III.

Genesis: Phantasy Star IV.

32X: Probably After Burner. Not sure how that version of Space Harrier is. One of those is supposed to be a really good port.

Sega CD (includes CD 32X): Tough choice here. Probably Popful Mail.

3DO: Can't recommend DOOM here, probably Lucienne's Quest, but it's expensive.

Neo Geo (MVS/AES/CD): Shock Troopers.

Saturn: Guardian Heroes.

PlayStation:
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Seriously, if you don't have this elsewhere, and you haven't played it, DO IT.

Nintendo 64: If Castlevania 64 includes Legacy of Darkness, then that. Skip otherwise.

Dreamcast: Bangai-O.

PlayStation 2: Ratchet and Clank.

Gamecube: Luigi's Mansion.

Xbox: Metal Wolf Chaos (Curse isn't terrible, but it's aggressively "meh".)

Xbox 360: No idea here, actually. Probably Alice.

PlayStation 3: No clue here either. Brutal Legend? I've had the game for years and never installed it.

Wii: Another Code: R – A Journey into Lost Memories. I really enjoyed this one.

Wii U: Minecraft?

PlayStation 4: Horizon Zero Dawn

Xbox One: FarCry 4, I guess.

Switch: Probably Skyrim.

Game Boy: Metroid II: Return of Samus, although Kid Icarus is also good.

Game Boy Color: Probably Resident Evil Gaiden.

Game Gear: Battletoads.

Virtual Boy: Wario Land. Best game on the system.

Game Boy Advance: Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. Really, really good stuff.

Neo Geo Pocket/Color: SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter's Clash. Not usually my cup of tea, but I put sooo much time into this game.

NGage: Hahahaha... no idea.

DS: Okamiden. Probably better than the Zelda games on the system.

3DS: Gotta go Kirby!

PSP: Valkyria Chronicles III. Haven't played it, would go FFIV otherwise. Go with something original, basically.

Vita: Tales of Hearts R. First Tales game I've enjoyed in a while.

Whew, done! Well, take it for what it's worth. :P

Cool thread! Its been a project of mine, over the past several months, to compile an "end-game" list for the consoles that I care enough about to collect for. That being, what my personal complete libraries for these systems will look like.

I'll just share the top 10 or so for each, the really high priority stuff, since each list tends to reach into the 50s. I just buy loose carts for the Nintendo stuff, as I loathe cardboard boxes. Genesis stuff I aim for cart/box.
SNES/SFC:

Pocky & Rocky
Hagane
Mega Man 7
Rockman & Bass
Final Fight 2
Final Fantasy III
Umihara Kawasi
Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie
Super Castlevania IV
Axelay

Genesis:

Toejam & Earl
Sonic 3
Atomic Runner
Vapor Trail
Bare Knuckle 3
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Hellfire
Fire Shark
Two Crude Dudes
Mega Man: The Wily Wars

GB(C):

Kirby's Dream Land
Pokemon Blue
Pokemon Silver/Crystal
Bionic Commando
Ninja Gaiden Shadow
Dragon Quest 1&2
Mario Land 2
Konami GB Collection Vol 3

GBA:

Mega Man Zero
Mega Man Zero 2
Double Dragon Advance
Gunstar Super Heroes
Final Fantasy Tactics
Golden Sun
Ninja Five-0
