Operation Logic Bomb
http://www.classic-games.net/operation-logic-bomb/Little known top down shooter that is pretty damn good. A little short but enjoyable nonetheless.

Granada
http://www.classic-games.net/granada/I really liked this one. Normally I'm not into tank based games but Granada and its large levels and structure won me over. I really do miss Renovation as a publisher.

After Burner (NES)
http://www.classic-games.net/after-burner/A surprisingly decent conversion all things considered. This was one of the first Tengen black cartridge games I played back in the day next to Rolling Thunder and Fantasy Zone. I sure as hell like it better than Top Gun.

Yeah I agree. Afterburner is alot of fun on the nes. Classic arcade gameplay on a sleek black cart. Top Gun had nothing on it.

Top Gun wasn't bad, but they made it very un-fun to progress as most people just couldn't deal with the landing, and even if you could, if you didn't do it for a few months/years you're likely to forget again for awhile which really is not good design. Stage wise it's fun, though the sequel blew it away.
All said for arcade conversions Tengen nailed it on a few. Afterburner, Rolling Thunder, Road Runner, Tetris, and even Fantasy Zone really stand out. Alien Syndrome wasn't too bad nor was Vindicators or Shinobi, and if you liked(but didn't know it then) Namco japanese baseball greatness RBI Baseball was Famista Baseball which is a decent game. Indiana Jones was damn hard but it was a decent unique spin on the superior arcade game.
I used to own all the black carts outside of the sports ones, even the garbage like Skulls and Crossbones.

I see another fan of the black cartridge games! I always wanted to play Tengen Tetris back in the day but never saw it in stores. I should get around to that.

The Ignition Factor
http://www.classic-games.net/ignition-factor/Pretty cool game that I had no expectations of. While I think the Firemen is better Ignition Factor is a nice alternative.

Aladdin (NES)
http://www.classic-games.net/aladdin/A terrible, terrible game that we in North America were spared.

Streets of Rage
http://www.classic-games.net/streets-of-rage/Its a little rusty but provided an excellent starting point for its legendary sequels.
