Direct me to the drama please

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Why yes, yes there is.

That Thor transformer is amazing. He's a Thunderbolt II with an Avenger Gatling cannon. Pure perfection.

My sense of how that discussion went down:

Mike: (unprovoked, not mentioned in recent discussion) "I'll make my own points and then end by telling professor dsh to go back to his safe space."
Me: (sarcastically) "Nice of you to insult me personally!"
Mike: "You are too easy! Soft like charmin! How about you threaten to leave the site again, crybaby?"
Me: "Here are all the times I threatened to leave the site" (includes relevant links showing that this has happened zero times)
Mike: (leaves site)

Believe it or not DSH, that was not the cause of it.

Well that's good to know, actually. I felt like he was getting a lot more personally invested in that discussion than he typically has around political stuff, so assumed that that little tiff with me may have been the "final staw" or some such. I like having Mike around and think he's a great member when he lays off the personal attacks, but he has been more direct in his grumpiness lately...

He may not care to hear it coming from me, but I do hope he's not planning to be gone permanently. Perhaps he may just want to stay out of off-topic or political threads if/when he returns.

What he said. And funny to bring up poking at stick at someone. It is a gaming site after all. Almost all of it I let roll off, but that said, I didn't say everything. It's not nice having a personal troll follow you around at times.

What? It was a joke.

Apologies if that crossed some line.

On a serious note though, there was way more gaming focused disscussion when I started on here back in '13. The issue now is that especially because of the election there's not been much of that. It's somewhat returned to gaming focused but I don't know I don't see as many quality topics and discussion to the point where when "world falling apart" pop up it's starting to seem a little unhealthy with the loops and such that go on in there. I really think we'd be better off if that topic was just locked and stayed away from political debate on here...

I miss the site's original focus of tennis playing young men and the equipment they used.

If people want more gaming posts, then I encourage them to make them. I like to talk politics because it is central to my being, but I also like to seek retro game spirit animals, start retro game rap battles, make mixtapes, write poetry about Shadow of the Colossus, and talk endlessly about retro video game music. You have to make the threads you want to see on the forums.

Well, but here's the bit... at our best we were never just a video game site. We were, and still are, a community. As such, we often share how we feel, what we think. This election has put stresses on families and communities everywhere. It makes sense it would put stress on us, too. But like most other things, we will weather this and continue to move on as a community. We have learned from each other, mostly good things, some maybe not so much. Besides, if one thing hasn't changed, it's that we all still love games, even if some of us have less time to play them these days.
